The covering is surprisingly well insulated - I had it across my knees when I was cutting it and I came over all hot - or is that just my age:I

I did a little experiment with the lining. I held a lighter to it to see what would happen, it melted with the flame but wouldn't stay alight whereas the old stuff burnt like a rag soaked in petrol and gave off stinking - choking fumes. I think I made the right decision ripping it out:I
