The big hole at the top of the pic is the gas bottle holder - not a repair in progress and what looks like rust on the bottom of the side panel is actually wax-oil:I I drilled out the pop rivets and peeled back the edge of the gas bottle trough so I could weld the floor edge repair section in and even that little strip of metal is sound so it all should be fairly straightforward now. Still can't understand why they went to so much trouble preparing the edge of the floor for a repair and just didn't bother - all the hard work was done. I even found little spirals of metal off-cuts in the cill where a nibbler had evened off the edge of the floor[V].

Sorted out the little problem of the lack of floor edge and started probing around a little hole in the wheel arch - a bit of mild surgery was needed :I

A good job well (for me) done. But then I started cleaning up for the photo shoot and noticed the dust and crap was disappearing down a hole right at the edge of the floor covering where I had cut it back so I investigated [V] and it wasn't a pretty sight.
The little hole was the edge of the chasm at the join of the floor
The entire joint has corroded through and it looks like the box section underneath is none too healthy[xx(]
Tomorrow I think I'll pull out the rest of the interior (there's not much left:I) and rip up the floor covering to see what else is hiding underneath - I've run out of metal so I won't be doing any welding so I'll have to fill the time in somehow

Thank's Adam, I'm a bit peeved off at the mo' - just when you think you are getting on top of thing's something like this bites you in the rear[V]. It looks worse in the flesh and I'm expecting some more to come along. Doesn' look like Harvey will see the road this year[V]

Not too bad - rot wise, a similar repair needed to this side of the floor above the jacking point and a few localised grot spots, but at least this side has got an edge to the floor.
I think I might trash the original interior and go or something a bit more luxurious - the first AutoPanky :I

I wonder why the rear wheel arches are different, the nearside one has a step in it but the other side is a complete curve. Maybe the shell was built originally as a minibus and it is to make room for a row of seats. I can't see it being modified to fit the fridge in somehow :I

Mine's got a cut out too - I think it is for the fridge if I remember correctly. I bet Autosleepers were a little peeved to have to muck about cutting chunks out of wheelarches!

Autosleepers did this to fit a fridge, dosn't seem to interfere with the wheel

The last day of my holidays so I've had an early finish (slacker) besides I think I've upset the neighbours enough for today[}]
First job was to jack up the rear nearside to test the jacking point and to check the wheel cylinder. Jacked up no problem so checked around the cylinder and adjusted the drum right up (leave the bleeding for another day:I) Then drained and removed the petrol tank[xx(] The outlet was blocked with crud and a piece of welding wire was needed to clear it - 2 gallons of rather yucky looking petrol drained into me bucket and once on the floor you could see the tell-tail signs of seepage around the seem, I think it's time to change it(Tim you have mail:I)
Once the flammables were out of the way out came the disc cutter - four discs later.....

The little 'V' notch in the cross member is the only bit of real rot I found and attacked with the flapper disc - the rest is surface rust that I'll wire brush and treat with Aquasteel. I used a spot weld drill to separate the floor from the chassis rails - you can see where I was a bit enthusiastic and drilled right through but if your careful the metal underneath can be left sound - a very handy piece of kit [^]
