Back of the garage

After a couple of days R&R under canvas (well the modern equivalent) haven't had time to do anything on Harvey - but while still in tent putting up mode began to wonder what state the awning would be in after as many years in the shed as the van has had at TBOTG [:0]
Was pleasantly surprised:) How's that for 1970's cool[8D]

The canvas is a bit faded but the inside shows you what it would have been like originally

Is this where they got the idea for bubble wrap:I




I was told by the last owner that this was an original optional extra.



Giving the roof a dose of 'Amerzin Vyklene'



Although a couple of mould stains it's still very usable so expect to see it stuck on the back of Harvey soon - does my bum look big in this :)

I like it - speshly as it looks a lot like Jessica's! They'll look sweet next to each other.

I love the smell of old canvas. I need to pull out the old orange vango tent - I promosed the kids I'd take them camping with Molly when she got her MOT, and the vango is perfect (ok maybe a little small!)

Hi John,nice awning, i hope mine looks as good as that when i eventually get to put it up.I've not even looked at it yet.
It's been in the loft ever since i've had the van!I hope the mice haven't eaten it!!!
Is yours very heavy?, mine weighs a ton,i would think it will slow the van down considerably when it's fully loaded complete with awning!!

Hiya Trev, surprisingly quite light and easy to put up - not like the other one I've got, that's really meant for a coach-built and the canopy seems huge - I've found the poles for that one but haven't tracked down the rest of it yet [V]

Well cool :) I wonder if you could treat faded canvas with something to bring the colour back,not that I don't like the aged look.

Bet you're looking forward to that incredibly wet morning when the awning is drenched in water after a long night of rain - and it's weight been increased ten-fold :D Not to mention the best part of a week it takes it to dry...[:eek:)]

But I love them too :) Old cotton tents/awnings are wonderful! :p
 
It's still up in the garden - it chucked it down last night, and was dull and damp all day, so I've got to wait for a nice sunny day to dry it out :I

You may have finished your welding by now! But regarding the fluxless wire I've found that on my Sealy 150 mig upping the wire feed by about 10% and a fraction more amps, my welds went from er... bubble gum to nice flat "waves", get the torch in close and at about 45 degree's, a nice new tip helps as well.


Cheers Tigger - I tried upping the amps and feed today when doing the step repair and the results are much better - thanks for the tip[^]

After spending some time re-fitting the furniture I ripped out to do the jacking point repair ( still haven't found one of the mouldings :I) I revisited the air filter cowl. The 'cod piece' attempt [xx(] has been replaced with my original idea - modified to clear the road wheel on full lock. Once It's painted up I think it will look OK and at least it's made of metal - no longer a cod piece, hence forth it will be known as the 'Wasps Nest' :I

Seriously if it fouls at all now then the only answer is to shorten the manifold (or shift the engine sideways :I)
