He'll sound even better now he's got all eight valves working [8D]

I had an XJ8 2000 plate until I got all sensible & settled down with Cazz

Long story but, I could not start the bugger one day and squirted 'easystart' up the air intake:I it blew the air filter hopusing about 100 yards across the way hahaha and cost me about £400 for Jaguar to sort it:I:I

That would have been my next attempt, never used the stuff before - it's a bit like cheating:I
Harvey starts so easily now - none of the fammiliar Commer churning - a bit sad really [8)]

Why on this Earth is that sad Panky[?] The fact that YOU have achieved that is quite something[8D][8D]

Erm[?] Panky would you be interested in making up an exhaust for Smurf[?] (this could be starting a nice lil earner lol)(this time next year you will be a millionare lol)

If I could then I would do it for fun and for free - but it's a long way from mine to yours for a trial fit :I

No familiar Commer churning - the anticipation - the excitment - the thrill as the old lump eventually bursts into life :p Now it just starts :I
I wish I hadn't said that[8)]

Well....Very soon Harvey is going to need road testing[8D] and Dorset is such a beautiful part of the world[8D].... I'm sure Barb could do with a nice weekend away........free accom & breakfast thrown in lol9Plenty of space in garden for the tent lol) (joking plenty of room at the inn)

and a belated well done from me too! There's nothing like getting your motor running again, especially when Harvey has been quiet for so long. I must say I'm particularly impressed as you have so many modifications on there, there is plenty of stuff to be out of whack!

well done again

Me - glum.........NAHHHHHH - just a bit stunned that it works :I

Hi Rupert, how's your carb mod looking - that is the way I would have gone if Harvey still had a Commer engine.

'Harvey the RV'

Heads up! its BMM:D how the devil are you[?]

Oh no! let me get my head round this[?]....so, Harvey & Sybhyl are not really Commers, strictly speaking!

Oh well, neither is Smurf I guess:I

My dream is kinda like a Commer kit car[?] Well I would love to buy an old Rover V8P6 and strip it to running gear and then fix a Commer body shell on top:D

Harvey is a Commer through and through - all period mods. Except for the electronic ignition, designer manifold, Escort fan and exhaust cobbled from various European sources. It's what Rootes should have done - raid some one else's parts bin[}:)]

hello everyone!

the carb mod has been parked for the time being as Jessica is now short of an MOT and I just want to get her on the road again asap.

I have most of the bits, but I need to sort the exhaust maifold (which is blowing my mind at the moment!) and the air filter box thingy

Once shes on the road an running again, I can give it another coat of looking at.

Hi Rupert, I can take the manifold off Harveys original engine if you need it :I

'Harvey the RV'

Rupert, stick it in the post and i will sort it for you no problem :)

"you were only supposed to blow the bloody SLIDING doors off"

A few steps backwards today [V] I had a go at constructing a cowl for the modified carb/filter set up but effort No1 was declared a failure as the wheel fouled it on full lock. Back to the drawing board on that one.
Time for something else - front jacking point[}:)]
This was the nasty little beggar

Where it once was

I had to remove some furniture and flooring to assess the damage[V]

Another picture not shown here revealed a rather grotty box section further along - under the water tank - so a bit more welding than I had hoped. On the plus side I ground the protruding filler pipe away and re-fitted the rocker box - no knocking now - sounds sweet[^]
