I dont think it will be long before Harvey breathes again
really looking forward to hearing the sweet sound of success very soon - Charlie got Klix moved under rapier power last week so will be well chuffed to hear that you've made so much progress - and am sure would love to hear from you and offer any light on firing problems he might have come across[8)]
p.s. can we have a youtube/photobucket clip when Harvey fired up?, would love to share in the joy
Mine arrived today and after last nights disapointment after fitting new coil, plugs and points I was full of enthusiasm once more.
It took about 30 seconds to get from this....
To this......
Here we go - fully charged battery (nicked off the Focus) and contact........ Nothing[V] not even a splutter [V][V][V][!]
Sit down and have a think....shall I revert back to the twin Strombergs that I know worked before - no trust Tim and stick with the Starship K&Nterprise.
Out of desperation had another fiddle with the dizzy - a BIG fiddle - and with Barb on hand to (hopefully) catch the moment.........
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS
The timing was out by 180 degrees, I'd had the oil pump out and not put it back as it should so the slot for the dizzy splidle was a mile out[8)]
It needs setting up properly, I just put the carb on as I found it and the timing must still be a mile out, there is an odd knocking coming from the rocker box when the engine is revved - sounds like something might be loose.........where did I leave that screw driver:I
Had to cut short the test run because I was poisoning the neighbours with the exhaust fumes (aledgedly) but hey HE RUNS
will have a look at pic's in a min but I second that CONGRATULATIONS
what tim didn't tell you the other day is he put the tapets rocker? in & we had knocking too lol soon fixed with the screwdiver [^] :I
Ha ha! My suggestion was kinda right wasn't it! Well done, I know from personal experience how happy/relieved you must be feeling right now. I shall raise a glass to you sir!
Thanks guys your support is much appreciated[8)]. I'm sitting here smiling to myself - it doesn't take much to make me happy But now I'm wondering will I be able to set the timing properly without the vacuum diaphragm hitting the block - is that knocking noise a lost screw driver or a broken valve spring - I guess I'll just have to find out
coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool [8D][^]
yes, it had to be something stupid [xx(]
make sure the tappet adjusters are tight, some idiot didn,t do up the locknuts on sybhil and two fell out [:0]:I:I
that little tents days are numbered [}]
"you were only supposed to blow the bloody SLIDING doors off"
