Back of the garage

will do as soon as i can but pooter is playing up at the moment [xx(]

"you were only supposed to blow the bloody SLIDING doors off no.3"

Pooters [V] give me an oily lump any day. But then again without the magic of electronics we wouldn't be here and I would be playing with oily lumps all alone :I
Gawd bless the Tinterweb :)

More peak action. I decided I couldn't save this bit [V]

So I made one
First a bit of folding

Then a bit of snipping and shaping

Then some offering up and tacking

Back on again, hmmm it fitted before [V]

Finished off the day by starting inner peak.

Roughly shaped and primer sloshed about

It aint pretty but it works - I think my welding is getting even worse :I

Bring it on !!! Cracking stuff Panky :D

I've not been on the forum for ages but it's inspirational to see your work [8D] I'm really nervous about taking our Hi-Tor roof off and seeing truly what horrors lie beneath.

Big bonus of the Hi-Tor roof going back on means it should cover the dodgy welding I'll be doing. I'm hoping to make Woolfy's weld-a-thon to pick up some tips.

I'll have to do something soon as I've still got the spare Hi-Tor roof from Damien in our front garden, as it's too large to get past the house. The neighbours so love us ! My wife just about understands ...

Tips - don't look up :I

Thanks for the support Paul - like I always say brute force and ignorance usually work for me [}:)]

I never do anything properly - I do it the way I do it - if that makes sense:I

Only managed a couple of hours on Harvey this weekend forming the inner peak.

Started by sorting out a small repair in the top corner

And then tackled the inner peak in several sections

Found the magnetic clamps very useful, put em on the roof and everything sticks to them :D

Doesn't look too bad looking up now:I

Next job is to line the whole thing up and weld it all together:).

looking good there panky!

Nice to see Harvey in daylight - how are you going to attach the lower part to the upper part?

Are you going to offer a peak replacement service like Woolfie does with doors?;)

I think it will be a series of punched holes and self tappers to hold it together initially and then plug weld as each screw is removed. That or just tack along the edge of the lip, I'll see if I can get a stubby screwdriver in for the first method before reverting to the second.
I don't think a service exchange would work somehow, don't fancy the three peaks challenge :I

And me teeth have only just recovered from biting the bullet :I

After being marooned in South Wales Friday night and checking over my daughters car for the MOT I didn't have much time to spend on Harvey this weekend but the few hours I had where worth it.Started by attaching the peak again with self tappers and tacking in between.

Then taking every other screw out and welding the hole up.

A quick blast with a flapper disc, notice how the magnetic clamps have sprouted whiskers :)
Can you see the join :I

And a quick squirt of primer to hold the rust back. Can you still see the join:I

Under the peak I just placed a few tacks here and there to hold the whole thing together. It seems to have lined up quite well but the test will come when the paint is on and you lot scrutinise it[8)]I'll leave the bodywork for a while and sort the engine out next me thinks, I've got a plan that involves scaffolding poles to haul it out [}:)]
