Back of the garage

those poor neighbours - honestly Panky - think you should use a hand file and some wet & dry sand paper from now on (but only very slowly to keep the noise down)[}:)]:D - this is the only way I'm likely to get Bessie finished before Harvey:I;)

all good progress - looking very promising so far[^]

Nothing too exotic just a Sealey 130 - bloody cheap off ebay and hopefully good enough for what I need :I
I've also purchased some jewelers rouge to polish down the imperfections of my welding - I just hope the sound of a moleskin cloth impregnated with the product working away on Harveys roof doesn't upset too many people [}:)]

my hit man is available for a reasonable fee if you want to introduce him to your neighbours :D

The KGB against the Curtain Police - sounds like an even match but I'm sure your man is up to the task :D

Tip of the day.
You know how it is - you're in a tight space and you need to jack up your van to take the wheels off to release the brakes that have been idle for 10 years. You go carefully because you know the jacking points might be a bit dodgy and the back-of-the-garage roof is quite low but don't, what ever you do, forget to close the rear doors - especially when your Black & Decker workmate is sitting just underneath the open door. What tends to happen is that the bottom of the door kind of touches the Workmate as you jack up the van and physics and stuff comes into effect (levers, fulcrums, length X lift - Commerracer knows about all this kind of thing) and the result is a bent hinge and big gaps when the rear doors close [V]
Purely hypothetical you understand but I'll be spending a little time with a big hammer and a gas axe to see if my advice can yield a solution to the scenario I have presented - you just know I couldn't be that clumsy :I

'Harvey the RV'

thats an excellent tip panky ;) i am sure nobody is silly enough to do it though [:0]:I:D

phew, what a relief it didn't actually happen, would be a bit frustrating if you really did end up with more work;) good luck with the hypothecticals - being nearly blonde that's the sort of thing I'm fully capable of doing[:X]:I

I think my spreading grey is having a similar effect to the blond thing :I

managed to temporarily lose my safety goggles and look round for them with them top on my head the other day - and to think of the times we took the mickey out of my dad when we were little for doing the same with his glasses:I

is there a minimum age requirement for having senior moments?[|)]:D

Continuing to have plenty of fun with the Mini[V] The bargain set of silicone hoses from Hong Kong were a bit more of a 'bargain' that I had hoped. The delivery was amazing - ordered on Friday - arrived on the following Tuesday, I was impressed but unfortunately the description of 'Fits all Minis from 1990 to 2000' wasn't quite accurate. The main reason I went for the far eastern option of a replacement, for my fast degrading hoses, was that(apparently) for the same price of a standard bottom hose from a Mini supplier in this country I could get a full set of blue silicone ones from Asia. It wasn't quite that easy (unusual for me :I) I had a long conversation by email on the suitability of the hose set and eventually got a generous refund. Truth is that with a bit of ingenuity I managed to utilise most of the kit supplied but I had to buy a new thermostat outlet housing (26mm instead of 35mm) so I could use the top hose.
All sorted, all fitted and, you would think, all OK - no sorry - that play in the top hose that I thought was a slack Jubilee clip was in fact a broken soldered joint on the stub pipe on the radiator [V] bugger. Anyway that is sorted and it is all soldered up and water tight - just got to bleed the new heater (sometimes it actually blows hot air instead of steam[:0]) and fix the lack of headlights - then I can concentrate on Harvey again :)

ah the 2 things you can always rely on, mini,s and far east quality :)

Don't forget Harvy.:( it will be better sleeping inside him instead of canvas. Hopfully Santa will provide the welding set that you need,

Took advantage of the fact that the neighbours are away for Christmas and got stuck in with the angle grinder - and my new best friend [8D]

Replaced the bottom inch all round the rear of the roof. For me the results aren't bad, a skim of filler and a bit of sanding to finish off.

I didn't try the Mini rear valance, there was so little metal that needed replacing it hardly seemed worth it - I wonder if I can use one (or two) to repair the peak :I

It was strange how the roof went and not the gutters[?]
