Back of the garage

Re-built the gearbox using the internals of Bonnie's original four speeder assembled onto the overdrive output shaft. Just need to replace the selectors (detent ball fun coming up) and re-fit OD.
Luckily I've got a spare clutch and bearing to go in too :)

Unknown, unfortunately, I reused the existing roller thrust bearing when I replaced my broken pressure plate. It seemed in good condition and I just oiled it. Just didn't fancy a carbon one.

Thanks anyway, looks like it's a carbon one unless..................Paaaaauuuuuul have you still got it?

I've got a clutch thrust release with roller bearing from an MGB which I've been advised fits with only a minor modification. I've yet to fit it myself but it comes highly recommended.

Part no. GRB106B and available from most MG specialists, I paid £25 inc. p&p.

Too impatient and put it together with the carbon thrust
It only works:oops: box is now quiet, no crunching from fourth to third and no jumping out of fourth and reverse:) Overdrive even works.
I did have bit of a scare as I could only get 3rd an 4th but after a bit of a run everything loosened up and although still a bit tight it all works nicely. I did manage to yank the gear knob off though, it's got the OD switch embedded in it but the wooden knob is split and useless. I've pinched the one of Ted the traveller for now and will fix the switch in another place.
I will get an MGB thrust and fit it at the next opportunity.

Devised another OD switch - it looks a bit hotrod I think but that's a good thing
Made a little bracket to take an old pull switch an attached it to the gear lever with a couple of screw.

Proper gaffer tape covering on the gearstick to hide the wires, job done and it works great:)

Here's the old one that fell to bits
