Nice work Panky!, looks well! [8D]...
Been testing your 'amerzing vinyl cleaner' today!, its also bloody good at removing greasy finger prints from paint work!:D..

[^]

Me to but I think I'll buy another spray gun, my fingers are still numb from all the rubbing down after the scatter gun effect I got with this one [xx(]. Still a bit worried about changing the colour, I really want to finish Harvey in BMC smoke grey but I understand that red is notorious for 'bleeding through' new top coats, any advice [?]

Tackled a job that I have not been looking forward to today [xx(] cleaning the seats. The ones fitted are fabric faced with vinyl back and sides so no problem with the plasticcy bits (Amerzin Vikleen) but when it came to the bits you sit on I was at a bit of a loss as they needed more than a quick rub down with a damp rag. I decided to have a go with the Vikleen and with the aid of a good stiff brush got a reasonable (if not very damp) result on the drivers seat. The wife then offered me the use of her steam cleaner, a cute little thing that looks like a penguin, the bird not the biscuit(no seriously). I looked at this device and though 'yeh right, about as much use as an ash tray on a moped' but decided to give it a go and boy I was mightily impressed. The passenger seat was pretty grubby and the results were better than the vikleen, and the seat was only slightly damp. The back seat however was adifferent matter from years of the family dogs lying there after rolling in God knows what and to top it off I had rested the front seats on it causing rust stains and big dinges where the seat frames had dug in. But the penguin made short (about an hour) work of it and as well as being nice and clean the seat has been steamed back into shape, brilliant. I was on a roll and had a go at steaming the rear storage bins mill board bases back into shape, anyone who has had a Mini will know these soon distort into all sorts of shapes, and hey preso very acceptable results in about 5 minutes. I can recomend these comical looking devices they are only about £15 and they do a fine job once you get the knack :D[8D]:D

That's the whole point of the exercise. I've always tinkered about but this is my first real resto and everything I am learning will go into sorting out Harvey. I was planning on a quick tidy up but seeing the results on the Mini I want at least as good for the van [8D] A lot more to do on Harvey but I know it will get done, stay tuned for Back Of The Garage II :D

Well the interior of the Mini is back in and looking very smart. Cleaned up the original carpets and they don't look half bad. Started ripping bits off the engine in preparation for taking it out. There's seems to be so many things to take off compared with a PB (and flippin' awkward) and I had a major struggle getting one of the drive shafts off [V]. Everything is loose and flopping about now so all I need is to borrow a block and tackle from work and the re-build can begin [^]. Finally find a home for all them goodies bagged off eBay :)

Hi Panky, been experimenting with my ermazin vi kleen... wow! headliner! has got rid of some old water marks, wish I did a before & after shot [8D];)may have to buy some from you :pdidn't help with the rust coming through the gutter etc, think that may be a bigger job [V] maybe for major surgery, ie de seaming of gutters [^] could n't believe the way it moved filth from drivers sunvisor :)

Use it sparingly, that's all there is [:0]. I was redistributing the wealth I found in a forgotten corner.

I recconise the smell of it from somewhere ;)1/2 & half works wonders [V]best I water it down next time, would have sprayed it on,but upwards [xx(]luckily I mixed up in a cup and used a nail brush [^] so still have quite a bit left.:)

Mine leaked onto the boot floor of the peugot, not only did my car smell nice but had a really clean boot floor..shame its alll gone though! :(

The smell is very familiar I think it is packaged up as various things, wheel cleaner for one (brilliant applied in a strong solution at getting brake dust off). I think the stuff you got with Vax cleaners was also very similar but dilute. If I find any more I'll share it out at the next Gathering I can get to :)

I use to use a kirby hoover, that's where I thought I had smelled it before.looks like I have some experimenting with wheels to do,playgirl mini wheels!!cleaned it a couple of weeks ago, could not get them clean [:X]
