You could reinstate some hammocks :D

That is indeed my intention, I kept the hammocks, they'll need some new material but I'm a bit stumped how they go up, would someone be so kind as to show me a photo of how they fit up top? Cheers. John.

It looks like there is a bracket for only one bunk, it's half hidden behind your coffee maker. The bunk rolls out from the shelf on the left, one end of the frame fits into that bracket, the frame runs along the free side of the bunk and across the bottom and clips over a rod at the other end of the shelf. The free corner of the bunk is supported by a tube that hinges down from the frame and is held in place by a wodden block with a hole in it on the floor, clear as mud:I

Actually understand this now I've re read it three times! Shame is it seems I'm missing a bracket and the frames, which is probably why it didn't make a lot of sense when I've only got the hammocks in front of me. Ho hum, looks like it'll be the awning for the time being then, which is fine because it's orange and funky.:)

I'll try and get a few pics over the weekend. It maybe you've got an over the cab bunk, but I can't see the brackets on your pics:I

Looks like you did a good job John! Glad to see Bab's has been given a life extension. I removed a similar amount of pudding from the sills in the front wheel arches.

The hammocks bits were missing when I bought her - but you can always sleep in the awning - which has proved to be leak free.

Well done

Cheers Andy, to be fair she was pretty solid to start with so that made it easier for me. No worries about the hammock parts, the awning will do me fine I think!:)

Marvelous. haven't posted for a while, no need as She's been running lovely. Until this morning, on way in to do a local market and after a progressively worsening misfire, stutters and dies on me. Have a look over, nothing obvious out of place, crank over and she then runs lovely, but 2 miles down the road, same thing, starts missing, gets worse under load and then eventually cuts out. Not starting at all now [xx(] so recovered home on back of a low loader in disgrace. Boo.

Just checked, have spark and fuel but still no go. Hohum, left the battery on charge and I'll get back to it in the morning.:(

How did you check for fuel[?]
Because on ours there's a very small filter above the needle valve inside the carburettor feed pipe that is prone to blocking.

Also worth changing the coil for a known good one. Peggy had very similar symptoms and a change of coil sorted it.

I've got an in line filter just infront of the carb, disconnected that and checked for a good squirt of fuel when turning over. I'll be stripping the carb again tomorrow as my 'investigations' continue. Out of interest what carb are you running?

one step ahead of you amigo. Got a used but known to be good coil, I'm reluctant to start swapping things out all at once but I have got the full monty to go on, new dizzy cap, points, condenser, leads, plugs BUT I've run the battery down today with a fair bit of cranking so the old girls on charge tonight for a fresh start tomorrow. Not looking forward to a frustrating day as they can often be, I gave up smoking a few weeks back, as a result I have zero patience and tolerance if things don't go well.[:(!]

Have you got a fridge fitted, there's been a few occasions lately when the split charging system has created a surge in the ignition system causing coils to burn out[xx(]

dont worry John, all Commers enjoy a ride on a low loader from time to time - if it was on the way to a commer meet you would have won a prize!

Chaps, it turns out to have been a problem with the coil. (no fridge fitted so seems its just one of those things). Swapped the old one out for the good 'un I had and hey presto! A bit frustrating but good fortune it was nothing too serious, added bonus of being pretty much the first step of replacing things for this breakdown, also not bad going as Babs does a daily run of about ten miles, bit more at weekends and we've only had an occasional day off here and there for maybe two months? She likes working more than I do thats for sure. Happy new year! :D

John.
