Awnings

Due to the non repair of my mouse-eaten awning - put off by being asked £200 to repair it - I think I need to buy a replacement. Does anyone have a recommendations for an awning that can be bought that fits the back of a Commer. It seems most of the modern ones seem to be aimed at either VW owners - being fixed to the side of the van and in need of 2.5 meters of guttering, or for the larger motorhomes.

Any ideas? :)

Have a look at 'My ride needs a makeover pg 24' (Clarabel - just about to scroll off page 1 of Readers Rides) - Busy at the moment -but if you like the look of the awning (fits perfectly) will hunt out details later tonight. Mike - Hazels Dad.

Scott, how do yOu fit that to the rear of the van? Surely it's too wide to fit properly?

Well honestly speaking i had no idea if it fit as we got it when i brought the van and have never put it up! I presumed that the guy i brought it off did his homework:D thought i'd better check it was even all there let alone fit so have just erected it. Good news is it's all there and only been used once by the looks of it?..............Now fit wise.....? It's not theeee most perfect fit but you can make it fit;) the back section(Where you say is too wide) opens up like a crescent, now providing you don't open it fully and drape the unopened part over the door it should fit:) i'm going to keep ours if that's anything to go by!

Well, thanks for that. The awning that hazel has looks like a good fit on the back, but I have finally agreed a deal with the awning repairers, and the awning is going to be patched up, even though he reckons the fabric is rotten in places. But, as nobody is sleeping in it, as long. It is reasonably watertight, that will do. It going to cost a bit more than I originally thought, but that is still the same as buying that awing Scott linked to on eBay, just.

Cheers

Andy
