awnings/pitch length?

we have been trying to work out if our tent could somehow double as an awning but not sure if this is going to work. it would go width ways making a T shape which would be good but too much snow to try it at the moment:D

have looked at the nomad awning that razor7 has which looks great, our only concern is the length it would make with van and awning together? has anyone had any problems on campsites with the length, ie taking more that one pitch?

Nice to see you're making plans in the snow!

We've never stayed at a proper site with Jessica's awning, but when we have been on a proper site, all the Modern vans have been at least twice as long as Jessica so I can't forsee there being any problems!

I had a go at using our tent as an awning but the back doors of the van are surprisingly high.

We got one almost identical to ray's (paid less though :D) and have used it a couple of times at campsites - once with yori the other time on the back of the disco and there is always plenty of room, they just charge a flat rate for awnings at most sites

Would recommend if you have a modern tent that it would be worth looking for a "gusset" or a "tunnel" that would connect the tent - that is basically the only difference between our tent and awning and if you could get an after-market type option it would prove cheaper

we thought the same that the doors on the camper may be too high. just seems silly to buy a awning when there is a perfectly fine tent sitting here. our tent is quite tall we can stand up in it, so may not need to much modification to sort. some kind of joining tunnel would be prob be the answer if we can find something.

We tended to use main well orginised sitrs last year (caravan club types) and the reception that we got turning up in the Commer was very good. We could have put up up any thing and no body would have been bothered. (on one site they even moved a picnic table to make it more comfitable for us, on the same site the previous year we turned up in a renault traffic and they showed no interest.) Make use of your tent I am sure thatyou will have no problems
