after hearing about this getting scrapped its made me have a re-think, I'm looking into the possiblitly of getting a commer in need of restoration and Woolfly to do it up, It all depends on costs though.
Its always a better policy to do it yourself(if you can) as then you know exactly what the van,s like, and don,t botch it with filler/newspaper etc. I,m sure there is a few out there with a stunning paint job over all the pie [xx(][V]
"You,re only supposed to blow the bloody SLIDING doors off"
thats what I'm worried about my morris started with only one hole in the drivers footwell and now its on its side having the chassis leg replaced as well as other things. I'd rather have a good commer I could paint that a painted commer that needed rust removal ( coz that would ruin the paint.
And you bank balance:I
Don't be fooled by any 'fully restored' car unless it's got a well detailed photographic record of what's been done - if the seller has done a good job he should be proud to show you.
I bought a 'fully restored' car and am having to undo the previous restoration to do the job properly (not that I've done much recently).
Scarcity of vehicles doesn't always push up values. Apparently there are only three known survivors of my model and I have two of them (there are a few more of the lower spec model), but they will never be worth as much as the restoration cost, or a Commer.
Having looked at some of the commers Woolfy has restored and how nice some of them look before I'd prefer not to take chances, I know how easy it is to cover up a bodge with filler as it has been done alot on my Morris.
So that must mean im some sort of commer god! i have 6 now and maybe 2 are worth saving but i cant bring myself to scrap the others, cause lets face it they make great storage!
I think everyone will agree that Woolfy does a bloody good job
The Dog is on its way....
So does Martin,Steve/Rich Williams,Jules etc there are alot of places to go now to get your commer looking good as new just depends where you are in the country and how big your bank balance is If you want a plate or bit of welding to get you through your mot Tims your man or you could always go for a replacement stainless steel shell,im sure tim could knock you one up
