Auto sleeper roof

The roof on my Van is sticking up about 3inches on the o/s at the front. The rest of the roof sits down nicley.

Has any body else had this problem and if so how did you get it to seal. [?]

(I dont fancy picking the roof up on Windy hill M62 going over to Martains) :)

Is the roof warped? Has the side panel on that side of the roof folded down properly. On your roof is there a long bolt type device that clamps the roof down from the inside, is this engaging properly.

Thanks for the Quick reply.
there is no bolt at the front just a clip type thing in the centre. At the back it has the hook type that locks it down . it does not apear to be warped and I have renewed the fixing screws

Sorry run out of ideas. You haven't left a brick under the roof have you ;)

could you post some piccies?

does it look horizontal when its up or is it wonky then too?
I would guess there is a problem with the front aluminium panel but without pics I don't really know.

Sounds possible that one of the screws hasn't gone in ?
might be worth checking the hinges on the long sides...
pic's could also help us to help you :)

When I got sybhil she had a hinge loose on both sides [:0] You just need to prise off the wood trim horizontal along bottom of sides then peel back the vinyl to reveal the hinges I had to just tighten the screws, might be worth having a bag of small tacks just in case you need them when putting back the trim(I got some from wilkinsons)
I am more inclined to think this problem is just a case of pop the top & bring back down see if it corrects it's self,as sybhil's roof did do this once,I hadn't got that side hook over it's catch properly.

Does anyone know how to go about putting a new exterior strap on ??[?]sybhil hasn't got one,It stops the roof folding the wrong way.

crikey [:0] either thats warped or its for a different van.

I think yo need to pop the roof back up then closely look all the way round inside, check the long sides see if there is any play that may indicate loose hinges, then outside of the van I suspect that the springs at the front have twisted or possibly popped out of their aligning slot..I am sure it will prove to be a simple fix.

My first van had this problem - she had had a fire with previous owners where polystyrene ceiling tiles had gone up and partly burnt through central timber batten causing it to bend up & warp slightly where batten was burnt. Luckily roof hadn't melted through but used to keep an old piece of ship rope to plug the gap when parked to keep the gales out.[:0]

There may be some adjustment to be had with the hinge/springs at the front - still have old roof so will have a look and see if anything obviously tweakable.

No it is still sticking up on one side as you can see on the photo it does not look as bad. I have checked the screws in the hinges and they where all tight. I thought that I han found the problem when I noticed the bolt that keeps the spring on was bent (Commer Don mentioned it) I straightened the bolt and it still sticks up. I took the Dora around to show her previos owner (she used to speek to you Chis on yarhoo about Commers (Addie)) she said the roof was like that when she got if four yeas ago. I am goint to replace the in pitcture five this week (it is starting to de laminate) to I will peel the trim back and check behind it

Hi, looks to me like something is hitting the roof before its fully down. Possibly the board with the clip on it. Don`t have a lift up roof on my minibus. Just an observation looking at the piccy`s.
