Austin A35

'Subtle' is Tims middle name....:D;)

There is no build thread as such but you can see some pics on his web album https://picasaweb.google.com/114596434572776518485

They guy Steve and his son who are building it are selling me the narrowed axle shown on the pics, heard from him earlier today and it'll hopefully be ready for me to have next month, once they have track tested the wide track axle. It is the Puma Sigma engine, very light alloy engine by the sounds of it.

That's great, cheers Jon. Lovely looking car, but I reckon you should keep yours more of a sleeper so that you can surprise a few people [}:)]

Bit of junk turned up here today, i told him to take it away and bring back a smokey A series :D

I was hoping to find a picture - thank you! I also missed a trick earlier when you said you were unsure where to put it - I clearly should of suggested the engine bay (of the Austin A35 mind)! It would be nicely out the way there!

It is going to be more of a sleeper than the A35 in the pics Adam. I am/ have put Weller Wheels on, put they are 13inch and just wider than the original biscuit wheels! It has been lowered by 1inch but that is all. I think I will keep the bumpers off but everything else will be the same - no flared arches!

I was a bit naive Colin, I did think that we could be up and running for Spring but having researched more - read threads on various forums, tv programmes etc the likely hood of that is less than zilch. I didn't appreciate how Indepth it is and how much planning etc. I still think Spring, but 2013!

I'm of to study again in May, which is full time so finding days to do the Austin is going to be tough.

Right, I'm in Plymouth and off to Cornwall to pick up a Midget back axle, which I no longer need! Still, at £20 it was a bargain, especially if it has its 3.7 diff in working order - that'll pay for the Megajolt if put on eBay :D

If I had got a later coil pack engine then we could of moved that but this rebuilt one was too good a buy. With regards to megajolt, that was my input :)

You need to get some management and coil pack ignition. You can convert it to coil pack. I cant see you getting the true potential out of the red top with some old SU carbs on it your making ten steps forward and 5 steps back. Throttle bodys are the way forward but come with a hefty price tag. I know someone that fitted a pair of 45webbers to one but then went throttle body/manegement way, the difference was amazing from the same engine! Im sure tim could knock you a manifold up to mount the sfi throttle body thats narrower/slimer.
