Here are some more of the photos of the Commer Mobile Shop. This van had a 2 litre petrol engine and was purchased after my dad had seen it at Smiths factory in Gateshead. The van had been exhibited in the Commercial Motor Show at Earls Court and had just returned on a transporter. The salesman gave me two model Karrier butchers mobile vans which I still have. As I mentioned before our other mobile shop was a Commer Walk Thru which was first registered in 1964,but it was about 3 years old when my Dad bought it. He says it had the Perkins 4.236 diesel engine, and I remember the sound and smell of it starting on a cold morning like it was yesterday. This van was fit out by my Dad with wooden counters and shelving, the customers entering via the passenger door. Happy long gone days!!
