I think it is oak
1920 or 1930 rococo style victorian reproduction :I
what could you get today for 80 quid I would much rather
have a solid wood chair like that ;)

I bought a nice solid oak frame chair at our local auction by mistake. I left a bid on a hall stand, but accidently transposed two of the three numbers from the catalogue. I was delighted when the auction house rang me to say I had won the the item for £32, but a little surprised when they told me it was an oak framed chair. :I It's a lovely chair and I still have it! :)

The consensus of opinion in the Panky household is that you've got yourself a late Victorian elbow chair covered in a horse blanket. It would have originally been in leather, the arms not covered all the way to the end.

Its a chair for a genleman as it has arms
if Mark is correct it could be french
That was my first thought then I thought no
maybe victorian or edwardian
then I thought no again
I use to have some old dining room furniture
that was 20's very similar carvings
thats no horse rug thats the family tartan!

If they're original, you should be able to date it by looking at the casters on the front legs..

And horse blanket is dead posh look at the Vico Magistretti Sinbad chair!
