anyone help with solinoid substitutes??

Advice needed folks..

After a mere few days of driving the van.... the starter motor went... we did get one from martin maltas but it was without the inner solenoid thing and when the mechanic tried to use that of a mini it didn't have the power to pull it.. anyone know of what can be used in this situ please and thanks :)

Your starter must be the pre-engaged type, sorry don't know of any other vehicle that used it unless it was used on later Rootes cars. The best option may be to get the old one refurbished - it may just need new brushes.

Yours had the later type pre engaged with solenoid on the top, not correct for the year. I,'ve given Sam a number to call that may be able to help ;)

That's the usual thing that goes, easy to check. Just done Bonnies and Ted the Traveller's a couple of months ago.
