Nite :) All my men are already fast asleep and snoring like madmen.. because they are.

Speak tomorrow. Maybe in person, who knows. Depend on the winds and how far into your little beloved isle we get by tomorrow night. :D:D

Living in camper van - apm
I've often thought that it'd be great to have a camper to be able to drive to the pub, have lots of pints, then go to bed outside or in the car park. Would save a load in taxi fares...

Alex.

ps I also seem to recall that Alan Bennet had an eccentric old lady living in a commer van in his garden for several years in the 1970s? But I guess that's different, as that was someone's private property.

pps listened to an interesting R4 programme recently about a young(ish) couple that had sold their house and bought an Irmer(?) camper to live in, just went around visiting various friends!

To live in a commer van long term you'd have to be eccentric, fun for a few days in the summer but long term??
I do remember in the seventies a student acquiaintance living in a VW camper in the vicar's garden for a year.

Alan Bennett wrote about the eccentric Miss Shepherd in his book 'Writing Home'.

She lived in the van parked on his driveway for fifteen years until her death.

Well, it's 1am and I'm waiting to find out when I can go home so I can come back to work for 7am - Sat and Sun are likely to be long days too. Still, it's my last weekend before Christmas and it'll mean a few quid towards the garage - (more likely to pay for Christmas actually).

Is there anybody there?!

Got off at 1.30 - back in the office now after about 3.5 hrs sleep.

Snow here (London/work and Watford/home) is pretty sparse at the moment. None has fallen since Friday afternoon. Temp when I left home was -7 deg C but in London it's a balmy -2 deg C.

We're clear of more snow atm, minus 5.7 outside so snuggled up having a cuppa tea under a blanket on the sofa:D

Did you make it home in the end. No snow here, (as Moley has already testified,) but still penty of ice on the paths and less used roads.

Yep, got home about 1am. roads were mostly good although slippery. Outside lane of M1 was unusable though. Left for work this morning at 6.15am and roads were same, temp at home in Watford was -8 but in Vauxhall (London) it was about -2. Been inside ever since, might get away about 3am - 20 hr shift, great!

Blinkin 'eck, at least in will bring in much needed money to build that garage. Did you see my message on R -R regarding a shelter for Peggy?

If it was posted in the last day or so no, I'll have a look shortly.

Boiler has packed up this morning so no CH or hot water! Probably the condensor drain frozen (it was -12 when I got home at 4am).

Good news is the Gas man can come tomorrow after 12 to sort my boiler out. The better news is the pipe must have thawed as I have just re-set the boiler and it seems to be working! House is currently 10 degrees but the rads are red hot so all seems to be OK now. Must be something to do with the temp outside being just minus 2 tonight.
