Hmmmm I was under the impression that even a "private" seller could be held liable and prosecuted for selling a defective vehicle, either knowingly or not, I'm sure that I read something about someone who was "done" for selling a car with defective brakes!?
 
No, its "caveat emptor" when buying privately because a private seller can claim that they are not mechanics and did not know that had sold a defective vehicle.
I spent some time studying consumer law a few years ago and basically a private seller can get away with anything if they are not a trained mechanic or involved in the motor trade.
 
The Jennings is running well now and I have rebuilt the rear nearside timber frame that was as rotten as a pear....you can use the rear step now Chris;)
I have fitted a new windscreen together with a new rubber supplied by Mr M and its a bloody good fit as well, probably the best fitting and easiest screen rubber I have ever used and so far no leaks and its had a good test the last couple of days!
