Annual Coventry Commer Meet 2011! - 1st October

What a weekend[8D] It was so hot the cold beers were cracked a bit early and by the evening some of us were well and truly in party mode, you can tell by Baz's pics:I It was fun dressing up and getting into character, some said that I wasn't any different[8)] But Gary really set the standard and his silver wig was like a beacon shining in the firelight, he rightly won best outfit
We came back in mini Commervoy with Heidi and Bernie and I have to report that Harvey misbehaved himself[8)] We pulled into a services so Gladys could take on fuel but I reconed I had plenty in the tank so didn't bother. Bearley a hundred yards back on the motorway the engine just died and it was over onto the hard shoulder[V] we check for a spark and all seemed OK but I found a loose wire on the starter solenoid but it made no difference. I had a gallon of petrol on board so that went into the tank and we tried again, after a few seconds cranking over the engine fired up and ran fine, very strange. We filled up at the next fuel stop and I squeezed in just over half a tank full so there must have been loads still in there, all I can think of is a fuel vapour lock when we stopped a few minutes ealier and we ran just on what was in the carb before it conked out. I guess Harvey just wanted to show his solidarity with all the other breakdowns over the weekend:I
We've already been talking to Woolfy about next years Coventry meet, he was worried in case we were getting bored with it - yeah right

Glad you got home ok Mr Panky, I was begining to think you stopped again after we parted.
What a great weekend Woolfy and you just about got it right with the weather too [8D]
shame about the rain on the way home though especially the rain that came in through our windscreen

Rain? really? the sun was ever relentless all the way home for us[8D] I reckon half the uk had come to poole/Bournemouth the traffic leaving here was walking pace from the beaches all the way to where the M27 joins the M3[:0][:0][:0] thank god we were heading into town and not out:D

got home at 10,40[:0] but without my van it only made its way back 10 miles :I got recovered in coventry took down to tewkssbury got given hire car and van still up there until tomorrow[B)] all in all waited 3 1/2 hours for recovery truck then hire car. had a really great weekend though but at the moment totally pi*sed off[!]

oh no sory to hear about that bad luck mark. you should have given me a call and i would have come out to try and help you. anyway id like to say a big thank you to everyone who made the trip this year, i hope it lived up to the usual expectations that everyone likes and loves to hear about. there was some great vans on show, (and tents),i might add. but best of all there was some great people there from all over the country who i like to call my commer family. because without those guys there would not have been a meeting ,so heres a big thankyou from me.[:X]i spoke to rob the farmer,and he asked if we all enjoyed ourselves, so i told him no we didnt, and i asked him if he could lay on a better one next year with a pig roast, and he said he would see what he could do. haha. not really but he said its ok for us to have another one .so it looks like we will have to do it all over again next year[^][xx(], hoorraayyy.so that only leaves me one more thing to say and that is hope to see you all again soon,and keep on commering.[8D] p.s i will try and give more notice next time so others can arrange coming a little better, and i will also think of another theme we can have next year.
