Hmm I think you would have to go down the eletric colume route as fitting a rack would involve some serious linkage fabrication !
Unless I'm missing some thing ( like your not talking about a commer)
but the fact that they are a forward control design means that you will almost always have to use drag links and a steering box.
Not sure how a rack would/could be linked up to a steering wheel positioned in front of the axle.
Could be good fun from a design or engineering front.
I have seen some of the "darksiders" using a rack and pinion to replace the box but still using drag links and electric motors.
I think it was the type 2 detectives that did a kit.
