An eventful outing!

Ever get the feeling you've bitten off more than you can chew?

Jumped on a train from Yorksire on Friday evening, stayed the night in Edinburgh (youth hostel with some friendly, if a little smelly, Germans) then on to Inverness on Saturday. Arrived in time to have a good look at the van in daylight. After some negotiation - not in the strongest position when you’ve just travelled 400 miles to see it! we came to an agreement and I drove happily away.

200 yards down the A9 out of Inverness - b b b buuu, ground to a halt- (no breakdown cover at this stage). Anyway, got her going again and made it off the road and into a garden centre car park where I spent a chilly Saturday night. After some advice and encouraging words from BMM (god bless Red X) we were up and running again, all the way back to Yorkshire without further incident.

A big thankyou to the BMM.:)

Blimey, Chameleon !!

That sounds even worse than my Oslo-London-Manchester-Lancaster-London-Oslo round trip last weekend to pick up (read: move into storage) my recent purchase..

What a gorgeous van you've got yourself, though ! Many congratulations :p:) Looks great, it really does !

Beautiful van, you've even done your first camping trip into the bargain - hope the following ones bring you a lot of joy (and are a little warmer;)) congratulations on a great buy:)

Thanks everyone, I must say I’m really happy with her. Had a great reaction from people - one guy even stopped me in the street to ask if I’d sell her!

Inside needs a bit of tidying up but nothing drastic - the interior looks pretty original (although I’m not yet sure what is and what isn’t) - I’ll post some pic’s when I get chance and perhaps someone can advise.

Martin - i'm not far from sunny Scarborough.

If you have chance it would be good to meet up, would like to see the minibus and you may be able to offer a bit of advice on a couple of matters.

What's the deal with the filming, is the minibus the star?

I have put a topic on explaining the filming ;) It would be good to meet up, either in Scarborough or here at 'Commerland' :p

lovely stuff, looks great[8D]

nice to see the louvre windows, really look the part - do they keep the rain out o.k.?

very nice! is that a retro fire extinguisher at the back?!

looks like an easy tidy job too. Is it an autosleeper? Looks a bit different to the other ones I've seen

It doesn't look like an Autosleeper, the roof goes up on gas struts by the look of it but solid sides - not canvas. Woodwork looks lovely but again not Autosleeper as we know it. I wonder what it is, are there any badges or labels to give us a clue CC. It's a belter [^]

I'll investigate further - in daylight - will get some pictures with the roof up as well (sides are fibreglass) see if this helps to identify. Not sure i'd like to rely on the retro fire extinguisher but makes a nice feature[^]

Makeshift seat is a little too makeshift for comfort so looking for alternative - see mechanical hints and tips thread, any ideas?

Early Car-Camper (series IIIB), fabulous interior:p even better than my Car-Camper[:(!]Great looking van, enjoy.
ps-the series IIIB relates to the Car-Camper conversion, not the Commer.
