Advice please

So, about a year ago I picked up a set of wolfrace wheels. It was a good deal as they were last on a commer and came with nuts and caps. So the time has come to think about putting them on my van. It soon became apparent, they were not last on a van at all as the nuts are the wrong size and they don't fit.

above two pic's are of a wheel on the back.

pdp2421.jpg

this is how much i have to space it up to clear the steering arm

after its spaced up

So yeah, what do I do, buy wheel spacers for the front? and back? were do i get longer studs from? how long do I really need ? sleeved nuts ? Just some general advice please :)

You wont get 14inch slot mags on a commer with out spacing them right out, then it will put alot of stress on the studs as commer hubs are not hub centric with a collar to locate the wheels on. I spent years messing around with different wheels for them to fit and be safe with all the weight of the van on them. Ive had the pcd re drilled on the rear as i couldnt find any 9j that had the correct pcd. You need some 15inch. If there less than 7j wide you will have to use a 20mm spacer on the front and rear. You will also need sleved nuts that go inside the hole in the wheel. Ive got 9j on the back of mine with standard studs and sleved nuts with no spacers, direct fir to the hub. Ive got 7j on the front with no spaces and sleved nuts. 225 wide tyres on the back and 195 on the front.

Sounds very very complicated and a bit hit and miss to me so I think I'll stick to what's on Lulu whatever it is.

well with sleeved nuts i can get away with the back, no spacers or new studs. I'm a little lost now, are you saying, with a 20mm spacer on the front (that is also what i worked out it would need :D ), with appropriate length studs, it would be dangerous?
Thanks for the advice, its much needed :)

If your running a standard commer axle and not a dodge one you will get them on with sleved nuts and no spacers.(20mm on rear dodge) but its the front where you will have problems getting the wheel to fit over the cone and not hit the steering arm on 14inch wheels,15inch clear ok if the off set is right. You need to fit a 20mm spacer with extra long sleved nuts and drill the holes in the spacer for the sleves of the nuts to go into. But you need to get it with a slight clearance from the hub face so the nuts tighten up. You need to make sure the sleves on the nuts fit the holes in your wheel snug with minimal clerance so the wheels pull up central on the hub.Your wheels look as if they have taper inserts in them. Some of these you can knock out with a punch so you can use sleved nuts and washers. The more you come out from the hub the un safer it is as all the stress is on the studs. You will find they will catch on lock on the inside arch if you come out to far as well.
Ive manage to get mine perfect so there is no catching or rubbing of any sort when on full lock or suspension travel.

You need some like this but cant remember the pich of the thread now as its been a while.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wolfrace-FIT-Sleeved-wheel-Nuts-1-2-unf-thread-/290507374581?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Wheels_tyres_Trim_Nuts_ET&hash=item43a396bff5

Or these with extra long sleve

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Wolfrace-Style-Wheel-Nuts-Longer-Shank-1066-/390442955268?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5ae836b204

Then you need to make sur your spacer shims can go up to 127pcd
Here are some that will do it:
http://www.wellspacedout.co.uk/aluminium-wheel-spacers-20mm/5x127-20mm-set-of-4

Will cost you a few quid in nuts and spacers as there not cheap;)

What's the difference between Commer and Dodge axles then and what PCD/Offset are each of them?

I'm very lost by all the threads here with a lot of info, but can't find a comprehensive answer
