Advance details for lucas 45d4 dizzy

Hi,

Has anyone got the advance details (static, centrifugal and vacuum) for the lucas 45d4 dizzy on the rootes 1725 engine. I can only find them for a 25d4 in the workshop manual. The reason for this is that I am considering buying a 123ignition electronic dizzy for my Commer and looking at the instructions and it asks what the maximum advance is for the engine.

So I guess that that is the main question. What is the max advance for this engine?

this is a very odd question, i cannot see why they need to know what the max advance is, as it is wherever you put it by swinging the dizzy to align the timing marks. what they are set at is probably wrong for a modified engine anyway. i would think it is 34-38 degrees btdc total advance. 6-10 btdc static.
there is 16 different curves to choose from on the 123 dizzy i think so there should be something to choose from :)

It is just that there are four sets of curves.

Each set of four has a single maximum advance.

I the four max advance values are :

27 deg
30 deg
33 deg
36 deg

I guess I'm not really completely understanding this advance thing!

May just go for a brand new lucas 45d4 dizzy and then convert it to lumenition or perhaps aldon electronic.

it looks like they mean that is the total amount of dizzy degrees available in the advance curve.
the aldon is a very good easy to fit system and a good price, we had one on the riley (until it went crank triggered)it was very good . i have tried the lumenition its ok but the aldon is better. :)

if you do go for the aldon one it is worth paying the extra and getting one of their flamethrower coils. I noticed very little difference fitting the ignitor, but a significant improvement at idle after fitting the coil.
