Any Aussies see the Division 4 show last night on WIN Television and also over the past few weeks, showing a light blue Commer 2500 panel van?

Brilliant film footage (in Melbourne, Australia) of the van, they have had an episode or 2 featuring the vans as getaway cars too.

The tv show was supplied vehicles at the time by Chrysler Australia (thus the reason especially for all the Valiants and Commers).

Located in Seven Hills Sydney. Good idea to get the vans together, but don't expect mine on the road untill around July 2011. Why not split the difference and meet in Canberra, then again maybe not!! If it were to go ahead I reckon a smaller or mid size country town would be a better venue. Maybe on the boarder at Albury / Wodonga. Country towns are alway looking for interesting events, and assistance from the local Councils/Tourist Authorities may be available.

As there are not many of us it could be thrown open to any pre 70's make of van, to get the numbers up. Obviously this could include the older Kombies, which I suspect have a very strong club, but there has to be other nutters like us out there with other brands, like Bedford, Austin, Morris or even a Mazda Bongo out there. with any luck there may be some old Mr Wippy vans still operating in that town. The NRMA usually turn up at Motorfest in Sydney with one of their restored Morris J vans to promote the business. Does the RACV have a similar set-up? any comments?

Also just a quick correction on paulcloke's comment about "shrimps on the barbie". They're called bloody PRAWNS. Every Aussie cringes everytime they hear that saying. It was changed because they thought you lot up there wouldn't understand what the hell we were talking about, which is in fact the way we all like it!
Cheers
Stephen

Stephen,

Yes, regional towns and cities are very receptive to events like these, and also there are getting to be a fair amount of Commer Owners and enthusiasts around the region, forum members from West. Aust. and South. Aust. to Queensland & N.S.W. and the A.C.T., down to Victoria and Tassie (I think I can recall a Northern Territory forum member as well, can someone confirm this? my memory isn't that good), and of course there is a large number of owners (some are CVF forum members) of vans over in New Zealand too. (not forgetting the expat Aussie and Kiwi members overseas too).

Any Aussie or Kiwi members of the forum who haven't posted yet on this topic, don't be shy to mention online which state or territory (or in the case of NZ members, the region or which Island) you are from, can help show the areas we cover throughout the area.
Cheers.
