Accelerator cable

Hi all
The cable on iceman has decided it does not want to work anymore:(
Its not snapped but seems to be binding inside. This has the effect of making the pedal jumpy and stiff. Is the cable the same as a bike one or is there an automotive version? Tried lubing it and it moves freeley until under strain when it jams up. Ideas?
Apart from that the iceman has been great, no issues at all.

Well...alright then, maybe just a little...

I replaced Harvey's with a universal pushbike one from Halfords. It needs cutting to length but it works fine and only cost abot £4:) You just need to transfer all the adjuster gubbins over from the old cable.

That sounds good but how did you refit the molded on ball on the end of the wire bit after cutting it? Or is it done another way

Being a universal cable it had two different ends so I snipped the end of the cable off I didn/t want and pulled the inner cable out, then threaded it through the little bracket near the radiator, slid the adjuster on followed by the outer cable (after cutting it to length) slid the carb end adjuster on, poked the cable through the nipple on the carb and then snipped the inner cable off. I recued one of the end ferrules off the old cable to finish of the cut end of the new one.

I made replaced the "ball" with the metal bit out of a choc block eletrical connector - worked very well... as a temporary replacement until the one from Martin arrives ;)
