A poser for the technical among you...

the speedo cable i got from Speedys was a standard PB one they do not sell one that will fit from the D-type to the speedo head. It is a case of having one made up!

I had the old cable That came from Bluebell along with the O-drive, but unfortuanaly the inner was broken:(

Anyway, on fitting the old cable I think I over tightened it and when I tried to undo it I thought it had snapped off at the gearbox.

The threaded bit had indeed snapped off and was still on the gearbox....'oh crap' I thought....

Sat there looking at it for a bit, then I had a silly idea..

My silly idea being that the new PB cable end would screw onto the snapped of bit .....hey presto it fits perfectly and as a bonus it actually works perfectly:D[8D]

So, that 's what is odd about the picture....It's a standard PB cable in a D-type O-drive[8D]

Bit daft of me setting you this poser? ....got you all interested and bugged though:D:D

Great bit of luck, most people would have just gone ahead and removed the broken bit - well thought out old chap[^]

Sorry... not really getting that...?

My Question is: Will my original speedo cable (1970) fit on my new o/d box (from another Commer). It screws on ok, but does that mean it will work ok?
Cheers, Ray

If it screws onto your gearbox and screws onto the speedo head then yes it will work....as long as the drive cable is ok (not broken inside):D
