Not sure if they would all be the same size. The roof fitted to the Wanderer was also fitted to the Transit and Bedford CF, but was much shorter. The Commer had three roof windows and the others only two.

Ok i will show you the hypothetical Van, you have prob seen before on another thread but these pics are with the roof up.
The pictures do make it look better than it is, the back of this Van is soaked and the wood is like a flaky sponge.
Have not even looked into the mechanics yet, like engine gearbox and so on.
So have a look and tell me,,,,, How much would you pay for it???

I must admit when I first saw the pics I said to myself to much work. But come back after a cup of coffee and we've definitely seen worse. The offside lower panel doesn't look too bad but the windscreen surround and peak looks scary. What are the underneath and mechanical side of things like? if they're OK then you've got a good base to work from. The roof does look shot and it's a complicated thing to reproduce by the look of it so your idea of replacing with a different type is a good one, but expect repair areas to be hidden underneath the soggy wood.
As for value - if I saw it from the drivers side for the first time I'd say £1200, from the passenger side £200 and if it was the front I first saw - I'd risk getting stung for £50. I think Chris's estimate is about right, maybe nearer £500 if the chassis is good, but its a LOT of work to take on.
All my humble opinion of course and a van is only worth what you want to pay for it.

it needs restoring that takes money lets hope it doesn't just sit there for another 3 years
I have said it before you could buy a nicely painted one & 6 mths down the line find the rust coming through do it yourself you know whats what this is an honest van.

Hello there, Ed (owner of the van in question) here. Thought I would sign up to the forum as I'm quite keen to sell the van as it is attracting quite a bit of attention sat the in-laws yard!
There is indeed quite a bit of work that needs doing to the van, but it is a good basis for a restoration project. Would like to see the van go to an enthusiast - I'm asking £400 for it at the moment, but am open to offers. Let me know what you think.

You really need to look hard at the metal on the roof and gutters, look what happened to Basil's Wanderer [xx(]

i would have to agree with commerracer on this one im affraid, if you look at the van as it is, it has nothing to hide, all the rust is on show for all to see.as for the repairs its nothing that cant be fixed with a little bit of time and commitment ,if you remember just recently ive just done more or less exactly the same repairs down the front window screen surround on pauls van (hunny), and if need be i can make you the repair sections for you, so all you have to do is weld them into place. i wouldnt be put off buying this van in the slightest, at least you know where your starting from and know where your gonna end up.

I thought I'd said don't call my Hunny on the forum Sweetie. What we've learnt from Patience is that the more you can see the easier it is to estimate the cost of what needs to be done. The main surprises were the things we couldn't see, things like the interior and the rot caused in the floor because of the rotten interior.

Personally I would say £400 is just a little too high, purely because that is what I paid for my Wanderer and mine had a far better condition Wanderer roof (which is available if you want it?), a far better peak and window surround, Completely solid chassis and hardly anything to do around the lower half (fingers crossed, so far), stainless exhaust system and serviced brakes.
But then again, prices fluctuate.
I agree with the other comments regarding rust, I know exactly what I have and where and I know that when it is all done, it should be nearly as good as when it left the factory.

If I had the skills and tools I'd pay about £250-£300 and do the work myself. As it is, I have neither so would have to get it done professionally which would cost far more than buying a good one in the first place.
If you do go for it commit yourself to finishing it if you can. Nothing worse than abandoned projects, you'll have paid out a lot of cash and time etc with little to show for it. Good luck either way.
