'Pia' The Whole Story!

Well all told it's been a good day on the van today. Decided to give the brakes a bleed after fitting a new front cylinder and as luck would have it i only needed to do two wheels for some odd reason??? Anyway, got loads of pressure at the brake so i'm not arguing. Drained the old stuff out too whilst i was at it and replaced with lovely 'Wee' coloured new stuff;) Also fitted the petrol tank back on which again, i'm dead pleased about as it's another push in the right direction:)
Mark who owns Homer the van lives around the corner from me and is going to help me put the new floor down next week(The lovely chap that he is) so it's all coming back together at last:p[^] Going to charge up the battery and put some fresh fuel in within the next couple of days and hopefully fire her up;) will keep you posted.

Hi peeps and thanks for the constant encouragement, it's all very appreciated and one of the main reasons i haven't folded the project so far:D

Bit more progress tonight. Mark (Homer's dad) came over and very very kindly lent his super carpentry skills to myself and Pia and laid our new 12mm ply floor;) I was however kind of useless and mostly just stood around making tea and observing:O i decided to coat the flooring in more rust protection commonly known as Red Oxide just to be extra extra safe. Not very visible but if you look towards the front of the van you can see the little step section that covers the gearbox housing panel. Well that was Pia's original one being restored and re-used Awwww bless eh:D We ran out of light plus Mark had come straight from work bless him so we still need to finish off the back piece which wont take long. Forgot to mention, we are putting Thermolay Super8 underlay underneath the ply and are not screwing the floor down, it's going to sit without putting more new holes in the floor to eventually rust:) Few pics here.

Bex is hard at work on the interior and if i don't say so myself she is doing a cracking job, looks super professional and i'm dead proud of her. Can't wait to show you the finished article as it looks the mutts nuts;) more to follow soon chaps and chap-ettes x

Thanks lovers, yeah it's coming together slowly but defo surely;) I can say though that we have decided to just take our time now that we recognise that the season is coming to a close M.O.T time will come soon but no point in rushing it through just for it to sit all winter, eeeeeerrrrggg, did you hear what i just said....WINTER:( That doesn't mean we will be slowing up, just means we can do a better job of things;)

Few setbacks today. I took the front drivers side outer Cill off today as i thought i could make a better job of it second time around and whilst i was under there i found a few bubbles of rust so i decided to pop some of the bubbles to see how bad it was and took the seat jacket off to find this:eek::(

And then fettled and welded in some nice new wheelarch and floor;)

Got busy with the grinder and was surprised to find more holes and rot:O so spent the afternoon making good again.

I have had a quick look at the other side and it doesn't look as bad so will get out there and sort it when i get some more time. Really pleased that i found it as i would have been gutted if the M.O.T bloke found it as i defo would have failed. The wheelarch and engine lid jacket were in such good condition i'd stupidly presumed that the underneath was sound.....Note to self.....Never presume, 1,with Commer's and secondly, always pull things up to see underneath;) anyway, although it was a setback, i enjoyed putting new metal in. I actually felt equal to the job today for the first time ever which can only be a good thing:)

A typical Commer rust spot (or two:I) and a great job of sorting it[^] Those vinyl arch covers act like a damp poultice and make things worse if they get wet[xx(] The bottom 6" of the front engine cover on Harvey had all but disapeared as a result:I

Well you inspired me to get back to the workshop today Scott. I'm only halfway through my restoration and started on the nearside. Found the top of the A pillar and bottom of windscreen surround are filler (this car has been previously professionally restored). It means removing the laminated windscreen, which is a bit of a worry.

in fact keep at it pia will be on the road before The Colonels holes have been filled [:0] putting Racer to shame ;) he is now holding me up!
