'Pia' The Whole Story!

Evening fellow Commerades. Had a little time on the van today after a little hiatus. Infact, a fair bit has happened in the last few weeks.
Bex has made the cushions and curtains and has started on the bench seats/bed cushions. We were toying with keeping the original ones but they have faded a fair bit and Bex being Bex wanted to make some new ones
, i can't show you pics though as when we got the van Bex said that she wanted to be in charge of all the cosmetics and colour etc to which i agreed. One of the stipulations was not not reveal colour and design regarding both interior and exterior. She's a bit like that in terms of wanting to refrain from blabbing until completion due to copycats
So you get left with my boring piccies instead. Did i mention that the new floor has been purchased too[^] yep yep, all is in check now and just awaiting my final tinkerings before the M.O.T:O
So....I got these things done today
There used to be an alarm on Pia with this little key operated thing on the side which was just erm, ....Silly so i took it off and was left with a hole!
After some faffing around, it's now sealed up with metal much better than filler eh[^]
Then i started on the new insulation...Got rid of the old fire hazard stuff and replaced it with All purpose stuff from B&Q which was half price at £15, bargain, goes on a treat and is miles better than that old quilted nightmare
Van looks a bit of a mess with all that clutter in there but it's all stuff i'm using so it's ok for it to stay put for the moment
Had a spare bit of carpet left over from when we moved house so i chucked it over the wheel arches for extra warmth aswel as the foil insulation stuff, it all helps on a cold night camping in a field
That's it for now but we are moving ever close to that elusive Ministry of Transport test

I never said it was going to pass though HAHAHA, it's really just to see what it WILL fail on so i know what i need to put right
More behind the scenes progress lately. Pia's new paint is currently being specially mixed the trim is all purchased (It's like a sweat shop here at home what with Bex and her sowing stuff completely owning the Kitchen[:0])
I have about another day's worth of welding/grinding/sanding etc left before i can start other pressing things that i have been dying to do. I've really enjoyed the welding stuff don't get me wrong but your van looks like a piece of **** for ages which can make you despondant....Well it did me anyway[B)][xx(]
So yeah, work is still happening....Oh yeah, being that the weather is bound to change soon, we went out and got one of these to keep the van out of the elements whilst we get on with stuff. She's on the driveway you see and we live in a wind chunnel[:0]
Not as good as Bernie's Commer shed but will do for what we need it to do

Well, after another grueling day with the welder, i'm pleased to say, that as far as i'm concerned the welding is DONE as i said though, who knows what the M.O.T man will find??? But yeah, i'm relieved that i finally got there. I made a lot of mistakes along the way and have sooooo many scars from all the burns and scrapes etc, so until test time the end is here with metal stuff[^] right, where's my Beer

Cheers chaps, yeah it feels pretty good to have done the welding. I've got a little grinding to do today and some under sealing to do. A petrol tank to put back on and generally start putting things back together again I've decided to take it for M.O.T without the new panels on incase it does fail on welding. Don't want to have to rip them off again[:0]
I do have pics Colin yes, but to be honest they're not very interesting to be honest, just pics of weld HAHAHA, so i will wait until i have something more sexy to look at soon[^]
One job i do need to do is bleed the brakes, will stick a thread in the proper place
