'Pia' The Whole Story!

You need to get the bit out before you screw in a new one. The end bit forms a seat inside the bleed hole, as you undo it it allows air/fluid to pass through the hole in the bleed nipple when you bleed the system. If you can't get it out then the end sits in the seat and blocks up the hole - no nipple, no bleedy[xx(]

the wheel arch section is too square and sharp and now you cant get the outter panel to fit over the top neatly.;)

Bloody ell, you guys are sharp aren't you:D In fairness to you both, you are/could be right....I shall explain...

Panky, you are correct in that when i cut the old side fluted panel off i cut a little to close to the bone and ended up opening the whole side panel...Something i had been warned about not doing from the off. What's done is done and have tack welded it today with hope that i can sort the apparent dent out now.

Woolfy me ole fruit...Never expected you to reply for a minute so it's nice that you came in here just for my lame quiz;) you yourself could also be right as i haven't as yet even tried to fit the side fluted panel...Judging by the pic it doesn't look like it will fit too good.....However, i placed it over the top earlier and i'm safe.......................JUST!!![^]

I recognise that roof rack, I used to sell them in the late 70s when I worked for Halfrauds. They were the posh ones with alloy corners and plastic coated bars, I think they may have been Thule, but I'm not sure. We also sold Desmo racks which were all aluminium and Paddy Hopkirk boot racks. :D

Met my wife at Halfords as well - she still tries taking me back to get a refund! [}:)] ;)

Chris you are soooo right mate, yes the company is Thule! At least that's what is says on the brackets! I took some of the plastic coating off today and sprayed the bars Hammerite black! Loads of sawing/measuring etc etc was needed and still needs a tweek or two but it's on and looking good....M.O.T still looming Mark:eek:
 
I had one of those many many years ago. It was on a mark 2 escort. Could take an amazing amount of weight but one day i scored a bunch of 14 x 6 oak beams that had to be taken then and there. When i got home the rack was squashed flat onto the car roof and the windscreen pillars had bent outwards!!! Dont know how the windscreen was still in one bit. Come to think of it the handling was a bit sluggish on the way home and a rear spring broke as well. There must have been at least a ton and a half on it!!! Oh happy days..... It lasted a few years after that though albiet in flatter form :)

The ICEMAN is alive!!! - just needs a change of fur....
