Hi all and a big hi to alan(top bloke)Iv really enjoyed looking over your forum for the past few months while on the hunt for a commer or as iv ended up with a dodge mini space van(if thats right??.) Your have to forgive me for my new learning an lack of knowlage to these gorgeous vans as iv owned an still do, mainly v-dubs for the past decade(did I hear hissing??LOL)

Well Bassically im the guy from the small island of guernsey who got in contact with alan an talked him into putting a battery into mini an then letting me fly over to buy her an then set off on my adventure back down to poole to catch the ferry at 7am the next morning.....Sounds simple dosn't it??? An it pretty much was apart from the stupid guern comimg over with his unusual sterling notes, forgetting to change em for english notes!!!! Ay Alan....Anyway once that was all sorted an a couple of cuppas down the neck i was off in my first ever dodge/commer van with the biggest grin smacked accross my face

something like this!!!
Window wound down, arm resting on the door top an the very loud sound of the little rootes engine purring from under my bottom!!!
50-60 tops on the speedo(I knew these vans are meant to be slow but this even made my 1600 vw combi feel fast!!!LOL)
But did i care??? Not really, i was just loving my new ride an wondering to myself...Why didn't i buy one years ago??? Eitherway better late then never an boy are you always gonna be late in a pb van!!!!
At first i was very parnoide that the van was over heating due to the very high reading on the temp gauge, but after a quick pull over onto the hard shoulder an popping the engine hatch open, it was clear that the little old bus was ticking over great an not a stinking bubbling mess!!!
Other then losing the indicator stork off a roundabout(which just pushed back in) I had a great trouble free trip the whole way home with this van, it rained like hell, but the mini just kept her head down an motored me to the ferry where i was greeted by an mgb club going to jersey for a rally, everyone was very intrested in the van an i got to spend most of my trip giving people the thumbs up as they honked when flying past me in the slow lane!!!!!(or maybe its because i was in the way??LOL)
Now the van is settled in its new home of guernsey where the nice rude english number plate as been taken off to make way for the 5 numbered plate we register over here, iv used it everyday since buying it(roughtly 3 months) an haven't had to take any tools to it...yet(touch wood) Apart from filling up the clutch slave cyclinder once every couple of weeks!!!!
Its draw so much attension over here as its the only one in the island as far as i know? an its looks an feels right at home down our local surf spots with long boards an wet suits piled in the back an the beach boys playing on the cd player....MINT
Work will be starting on the body in the next couple of months to put all the horrors right ready to show off next year an bring over to one of the commer/dodge meets/shows??
Question is mini van or camper????
Look forward to speaking with you all threw this sweet forum!!! Laters dudes
Regards Mat
should have got me one of these a lond time ago!!!
