Bad news am afraid After getting the new water pump fitted and new hoses fitted "Minnie" was running hot near to the RED! I took the radiator cap off(when she was hot and there seemed to be no pressure at all I started her again without the cap on but she still ran near the RED!
I then took the oil cap off and inside it was like mayonnaise I put my finger in side the rocker cover and it was the same in there
Then to top the day off I pulled the oil dip stick out and the tube came with it[V]
So after all the work that has been put in to her still more work[|)] so am thinking do I really need this[?] as I have X-Box and "Fred" to do. I really wanted to do "Minnie" but time isn't on my side and I thought the engine was okay! The head gasket is a big job so am at a loss what to do[V][B)]
why not buy the engine of rich and drop that in mate[?]
I haven't got the time mate and besides Rich has sold it! Plus am just throwing money at it! I did buy it for spares but thought it was to good to break her up. Best laid plans and all that! Not sure whether to break her up, sell her on or just store her away[?][?][?] as much as I love these vans you sometimes have to draw the line!
Jumping about from one project to another is always fraught with problems. Concentrate on one and get it finished then the sense of achievement will spur you on[^]

Head gasket are easy on commers mate, they dont take long to do straight forward job alot easier than changing the engine. Have you checked the thermostate?? Take it out and see if you have a good flow?? Just because its got mayo in the oil dont mean its blown. Could just have done alot of short runs and have blocked breathers?? Do a pressure test or a block test on it.
A commer with boost will be appering on a screen near you soon!
Hi mate, I see you are in from your profile that you are in nottingham. if your head is knackered. l am sure I have s spare iron head you can have. No need for it. Based in Basford. Let me know and I will hunt it out.
The same thing happened on Harvey's original engine but there was a little stub left sticking out of the block - just enough to use a piece of fuel hose to hold the two bits together. Failing that I think you'll have to drill it out or collapse whats left in the block to get it out:I
Minnie is back up and running again! We fixed the oil dip stick topped her up with oil. Head gasket looks okay as she doesn't over heat after she has been running for a while.
All the wiring loom is back in "Fred" front to back it was fun getting it back in down the pillars[:0] all heater pipes are back in too! Pedals and gear lever next
[:0] did not realise you had all that to do on fred still you should be a dab hand at it now mate
Yeah there is a fair amount to do on him mate! Its a good job I bought the other minibus for spares as there are quiet a few parts missing We started to put the wiring loom in that was in the back of "Fred" but some of it had been cut almost all the way through[:0] so we then had to take the one out the minibus which was fun![|)] Mind you I could have 5 roof lights in the back if I want! Still Martin helps me out a lot plus with the minibus I will get there in the end
