"Marg" My Dodge Spacevan

Well "Marg" my Dodge Spacevan has arrived home! No brakes and not running it was fun getting her in the garage! Having had a quick look around her she does need a fair amount of work. I think all the lower body panels will need replacing. The driver's side floor is in a bad way and I'm a bit worried about the roof above the windscreen!:(

Underneath is very rusty but haven't had a good poke around under there yet! Any help and guidance I would appreciate! Hope the link works?

Cool! I have been after a Spacevan for years and can't believe my luck! I begged the guy to sell it me and he was a man of his word!

Going to get a battery tomorrow and try and start her up as he said she will run!:)

Looks like you've got some work to do, Woolfy does replacement peak sections if you dont fancy making it yourself. I had a go at re-building it before they were available - I'll put a link on in a minute.
It starts here:I

Thanks guy's! I will need a roof panel and the one underneath. I don't know about the floor panel guess I may have to plate it?

The rest of the roof is all good even around the edges! inside the load area is good along with the wheel arches.

When I go up tomorrow I will take some more pictures, I need to move her to the back of the garage, then I can start having a real good look.

I think Martin's TV van is stunning I have to decide how far I want to go with her? All the way?[}:)]

Thanks Pete! I will be in touch if you are coming up this way give me a shout or if any one else is your more than welcome to call in for a brew!:)

well done getting the van Alan [8D] and all the best with the resto job too! ;)

Aussie Series 2A

Cheers Jon! I don't know how to load them up like that:( Let me know how you do it and I'll have a go cos it looks a lot better!

I was watching "Minder" last night on ITV4 and blow me at the start and towards the end a Dodge Spacevan is in it! It's a White one like mine VJG 621T it don't look bad but the lower half and roof had been painted Black! Sad it was off the road by 1/8/86 only 7 years old!

The episode is called "A Well Fashioned Fit Up" from 1984 series 4.

Right off to get my battery and play! See you all later with a update!

Alan.

Look`s like you`ve got a nice project there, good luck with it.Are you going to sign write it the same as it is,when finished.
Watched the professionals on itv4 last week and saw a white commer mini bus and a yellow telecom van[8D].

Well I didn't get her started today!:I looks like the fuel lines have been disconnected for some reason[?] Will have another go tomorrow;)

I removed all the crap in the back today lifted out the boarding and under felt. I was surprised how good she is.

I took some pictures of the rear and some areas of corrosion the driver;s side floor and under the door is bad along with the outriggers(I think that's what there called?) have gone. Back end isn't to bad but a lot of surface rust which hopefully is solid!!!

Where is the best place to get panels NEW if poss;) will need to replace the two front doors and maybe both rear. They are Yellow inside, wonder if they came off a BT van?

Any way have a look and let me know what you think. PS sorry about the photo's but its the only way I know how to load them up on the site!

Hi Bob,
No I don't think I will have her sign written again.

Regards

Alan.

Hi Alan,

Van looks pretty good in places;) Looks like it's had some welding in the past in the back corners(Very common) possible that it was to repair an outrigger directly underneath the floor also[?]
Panel wise it's your choice mate. I am on a strict budget with Pia so i opted for Fibre Glass panels which Martin Maltas can supply you. It has it's benefits in terms of it's never going to rot again but is a form of plastic at the end of the day:) Martin "Woofy" can rig you up with the original Metal stuff which is obviously better as it's the real deal and is more solid. More expensive yes but you get what you pay for;) Plus, Woolfy offers Cills/Outriggers/aswell as panels that Mr Maltas doesn't currently offer. Pia was in a similar state in terms of all the bottoms so i opted for the Fibre Glass as it needed so many panels. Quality parts and service whoever you choose.

If your going to use firbre glass panels you need to put some metal back in first in the crusty places so its solid again and you have got something to atatch the panels to;)
