1972 Commer project

Right, I am open to offers on my 1972 Commer van.
Would be a great project for somebody as the chassis is completely solid but it does require some repairs to the bodywork.

It doesnt currently have MOT but shouldnt take much to get it through. I know (off the top of my head) that it needs a new fuel pump, at least one new tyre and some brackets to hold up the exhaust.

The bodywork is currently hand painted but looks tidy enough to use as a runner.

I fitted a paris canvas sunroof which is 3/4 length but there is an autosleeper roof here which needs tlc that could be refitted.

There is no interior in the back.

I will find the link to the readers ride thread and post it up and also try and get some photos of it now.

I will see what interest there is here before I bother with ebay.
Cheers.

Hello basil i have taken a look at the blue commer in readers rides ,i am interested could you leave a contact number, thanks

Sorry to see you are selling your van after all the effort that has gone into the restoration. Hopefully someone else will take it on and finally finish the project. How hard was it to take the commer letters off the front?

Andrew just gently prise them off, they just have little posts on and slot into little plastic inserts that are in the van body work;)

It depends on what's going in their place. If to be replaced with "V O L K S W A G E N", I've heard that they're a right pig to remove - even some stories of the van trying to run over the guy tampering with it's letters... ;)
