My Husband & I have a 1971 Commer Horse Box for sale. Model: KCB4023. Year of manufacture is 1970. Gross weight: 4.9 tonnes.

We have owned this horsebox for 7 years and it has never let us down. Always starts and is very reliable. Sadly, has sat static for 3 years as we no longer have a use for it. Tax exempt but no plate.
For sale as a renovation project. Pictures are attached. Very sad to let this old box go but needs the work - which we cannot give it.

Also, do you have a rough idea of the work that needs doing?

Hi there, thanks for your reply. Hope I can find a home for him -dear ol' thing![^]
Good engine and runs well. Just the cab needs quite a lot of work with regards to rust and paintwork :(
Horsebox body is good and solid, again may need a touch of varnish.
Tyres are all good.
With not too much work, could be a nice tidy box.

You must be, sure is lovely - when it comes to buying I definitely have the motive, just not the means & opportunity[V]

Would make a superb living wagon done out in showman style[^] ooh, I can dream[^] Hope someone will take it on - any contacts down your way in Commerville Admin?[8)]

go on! someone go for it! there's not many of these left - in fact I've never seen one with the concertina doors before, other than in the catalogues...

Looks like it's got a Perkins 4.203 engine in there, so a 3.6l engine that'll be very reliable and one you can still get spares for.

if anyone does go for it I'm more than willing to help out with advice on spares, etc.
 
...and if it's too big, you could always take the horsebox off and turn into a flatbed or put a smaller box on the back - would bring the weight down aswell.
 
You don't see many about now so would be a good van to restore.
Got the Perkins 4.203 in my Karrier Bantam and its a very reliable and frugal engine.
