1968 autosleeper

Looks good for the price. I would like to know when the mot runs out, I didnt spot the current mileage.

Was quite close to buying this yesterday, but it needs more work than I am capable of on the van's body work. The engine starts straight away and has the original autosleeper interior with some personal modifications.

I'm sure it would be a brilliant project for someone, and the chap selling it seems lovely, wish I could have bought it! Also it may need to be saved as there is a chance it may become a burger van :(

I'll try and post some photos for others.
 
That's a shame, a long trip to be disappointed:I Keep looking, the right one will come along:)

Thanks Panky. We used the 'things to look for' thread on the forum - so that was really helpful. We've decided that we will spend more money and get one that needs less work, rather than buying one that needs work. Fingers crossed one will come up for sale :)

But in the mean time hopefully someone will buy this one.
 
I tried contacting the buyer for days with no luck... it's only over the road from me too.

Ho hum gone and bought Dave's now!
 
Good luck in your search Lucy, I'm going to have a look at your pictures later. It's a shame to much work needs doing on the auto sleeper,one will turn up eventually. I now know how much time/effort and money is required to keep our lovely commers on the road. But I've learnt so much, don't give up.

If I see one more grease nipple........
 
Stable that's a shame, but great news you've bought one!

Thanks Andrew and Greg, would have loved to buy that one, but I know my limits. I'm sure it will be perfect for someone. Would love to have one for this summer, but I'm guessing as they don't come up that often maybe it will take the rest of the year to find one for us :)

I'll be hanging out on here and see if anything comes up!

Me the the misses were both set on the autosleeper body type from day one. I do love 'em. However Charlie the autohome is just so chunky and cute I am rapidly favoring him. But the highwayman has some classic lines!

Laying my cards on the table this is all an exercise in making a viable business for my partner as she had a bright idea... Living in remote rural Wales we want to start hiring these for short touring hols. There isn't much work round here and we love both the old vans and where we live so seems a good marriage. That's the long term plan. But I got a lot of work ahead of me!

Good luck with the enterprise[^] You don't need me to tell that it will be fraught with dangers but so satisfying if it takes off and runs smoothly, like a Commer;)

haha yes, I wish I had a little more naivety to be honest!

At least i'm the one that'll be muttering at the back of the workshop rather than dealing with the customers :p
