The outer sill is different on sliders.

Ive got some NOS sliding doors to;)
Ive also got all the rails and brackets to convert any van to sliding doors;)
Cant make my mind up if to make my panel van a slider or not:)

Has anyone actually been to see this? If so, what's the report like?

I'm toying with the idea of this, but I ought to really stick to what I said and get something that isn't in need of too much bodywork. Got enough already to be doing in that department. :(
 
I'd say that providing the Chassis and floor are ok the bodywork looks cosmetic to me, go for it 80mojo, rare beasts don't come up often, especially if that Hoover get's switched on if you know what i mean;)

Spoke to the seller yesterday evening, sounds like a very nice bloke, assured me that the auction would run, definitely wouldn't end early. Has been out of MOT for a year after a fail, but has done most of the work apart from a few bits and bobs that still need sorting. He says the peak is rotten and holed through after a previous owners poor repair but the remaining gutter, although with some surface rust is sound. Both doors are good although the window frames are shot. Reckons it's mechanically sound and the interiors in good nick. Sounds ideal for me but I reckon the rarity of the old girl will push it past my price range... Been saving hard but probably not at the rate Commers are going up in price. :(

I am going to try and get down to see this at the weekend. Seller does seem pleasant enough. It Does look like the peak is a bit sick. I'm hopping form one foot to the other about this. I do like it, but it is more work body wise than I should really be entertaining...

Sliding doors though... Hmmmmm...

And its hit its reserve too.
 
rarity doesnt always mean desirable, some might not like the sliding doors - I like it, theres something about blatting about the commerfest field with sliding doors open - these days the fun police would fit an engine kill switch to the doors to stop such fun - my car locks the doors over 10mph
