1966 Commer Jennings....

Your not factoring in inflation, £2500.00 in 1964 would have bought you a decent house much the same as some of the top end coachbuilts now, £60-70k can still buy you a house in some areas. How much would a brand new Commer Autosleeper or equivilent cost now if still in production? ;)quote:

Most Commer campers now make double and sometimes treble their original retail price. This beauty cost £2500 when released in 1964 in basic form/no extras. Was also available with rear door option, but I have a feeling this might have been the only one built; unless anyone knows different?

I started with nothing.....and I still have most of it!

Bloody Commer`s!

I didn't realise you wanted a maths lesson otherwise I would have added that £2500 in 64' equates to £42,945 in real terms today;) Average house price in the UK in 64' was 3.3k according to the office of national statistics:D That £42000 would still buy you a decent new camper today, see buyers guide in MMM magazine or similar
