1964 Commer Van

You seem to have more panel vans over there than we have over here. Especially earlier rare examples!:p;)

True most Commers here are vans mainly because campervan conversions didn't become popular until the mid 70's by which time the Commer was no longer available. In the 60's most people would hook a caravan onto their car. When campervans finally came along they were usually Kombis or Nissan E20 Urvans.

The clip on sun visor was popular add-on in the bush as it would keep you cooler by keeping the sun off your legs and arms and reduce sun burn when wearing shorts, which would have been most of the time in Queensland. The visors created a terible amount of wind noise and performance was similar to driving with a parachute attached!

Very nice van, pity I have so many toys. It would be nice to see some other pictures as I suspect this could be a very solid rust free van, particularly if it has been garaged and living inland.

The picture seems to also confirm that my van is earlier than 1965, as mine has the one piece Commer badge on the front.

Yours is a Series 2 going by the single front badge, grill and side lights, .. was interesting about you finding the date on the parts fitted to your van (shock absorbers I think?).

That looks in amazing condition[8D]
Bit of a tight squeeze in that garage - I do hope the handbrake isn't siezed on:I

Gee, another sold, & many others coming out of storage or hiding etc in Aust and NZ, any new owners of the vans being sold around these ways and yet to post online .. love to hear how you are getting on with your vans.

I'll second that, don't be shy you're not alone. This forum is recommended therapy for those affected by Commer Syndrome. The more the merrier I say.

That must be 4, I think, that have appeared in the last couple of months. Does anyone know how many were built/sold in Australia? Wonder if any of the Oz Mopar guys have any info.

Cheers Stephen
