I have seen it in the flesh and it's a beaut! ......A year ago I lost out on my 1st dream van and then this comes up :(:( .........sadly I used the funds to book Disney again ....I could pay with $$$$$'s but then we'd have no spending money .....I don't think Cazz would be amused!!!!

Hi Guys,

Once again, thanks for all your interest and comments.

First and foremost, a big, big thank you to Mr P for posting the pictures for me. You're obviously a whizz when it comes to this techno-nology stuff (unlike me)!

Sorry for my misunderstanding Pablo. The van was converted to a camper in the late 1960s. It spent the early years of its life as a delivery van on the mean streets of Monmouthshire in Wales (hence the slidey doors). The first private owner had it converted to a camper by Autosleepers.

Yes Enigma, that was me. I remember you told me about the trouble you'd had with your water pump (on your Commer that is, not personally!!).

People have asked me about the interior and the underside. I've been out with my camera tonight and taken some pictures which I will e-mail to Panky to post on here (if you don't mind Panky, you did such a grand job last time it would be a crime to let your talents go to waste. Many, many thanks for your help).

The van is essentially solid but the previous restoration is definitely showing its age. As always, the best thing to do is to come and take a look for yourselves, although I realise many of you are a long way away from Essex (sorry Bob and John). I'm not around much on Saturday or Sunday but I will be here on Bank Holiday Monday so, if you want to view, give me a ring and "come on down".

Cheers guys.

Tony

Tony, I have spoken to others here about your van in the past ........OMG! if only our paths had crossed a year ago....I would of ripped your arm off for it (not literally) ...sadly, I got made redundant and have only just started work once more and simply cannot afford it......Damn!...I have owned 4 Commers and ...almost got my dream van, but got pipped to the post...but my heart hasn't really been in any of them except the one that slipped away....and now your van becomes available:(

I'm sure you will have no trouble selling....btw, most folk are away at a meet in Pandy, Wales this weekend...so there may be a delay in replies ;)

Evenin' All,

Once again guys and gals, a big thank you for all your genuine interest and enquiries.

After the inevitable false dawns, a serious buyer has now come forward with a sizeable deposit, and will be taking the van next week. I'm sure they will make themselves known on this forum in the fullness of time.

It's good to see that someone has recognized what a unique van this will be once it has been properly sorted out and restored. My apologies to the other serious contenders who will be disappointed they've missed out. Sorry fellas.

All the best.

Regards,

Tony

Congratulations on the sale, sorry I wasn't around to post the pics you sent[8)] but Colin saved the day:)

Hello! I'm Jef, my girlfriend and I have bought this commer from Tony. Really looking forward to picking it up on Saturday, we have some big plans for her.

We're looking to get out in Summer in it. We have a 2 year old and holidays are a pain, but the Commer should make it a lot easier.

I'll make a thread when we pick her up.

Cheers

Tony- you have sold an amazing van to Jef and family who should have years of pleasure from such a tidy vehicle. The Autosleeper interior looks nearly new! I'm sure the 2 year old will enjoy the van -everything is child height -Evie May my 2 year old Granddaughter loves Clarabel now and her Mum had every family holiday in her bunk bed room for over a decade. They both loved the layout -especially washing up! Welcome to the Forum (essential for spares and advice!) Look forward to seeing you at a meet sometime soon. Mike -Clarabel and Co (Also an Autosleeper)
