1725 Engine

If you mean a Humber Sceptre then they are similar but different head and cam - I've put a Rapier engine in Harvey which is more or less the same, the Sceptre may be a single carb - not sure.

'Harvey the RV'

the sceptre 1725 engine came with twin 150 strombergs, but the sceptre engine had to be slanted over in the engine bay to make room for the twin carbs.weve looked at removing the small panel in the engine bay that the air filter sits on ,this should give enough room for the twin carbs.
rootes 1725 engines from the mid sixties ie in the vogue/superminx/sceptre mk2 came with a twin choke solex carb, this engine sat upright ala our vans.this carb was problamatic and rootes dealers did a warranty replacement using a twin choke weber 28/36 carb which gave a big improvement in performance.we are going for holbay power but initially using this weber carb .
this was a popular carb in the sixties and seventies and fitted to ford engines as well and they come up on ebay regularly.
they will fit commer engines easily but you would have to use the correct manifold, these also are on ebay regularly try searching sunbeam alpine.

commer jules has been through a lot of this heartache.

He made a very fine airbox for the twin carbs he used.
