I've taked these from the 'Alpine Guide' a publication made by the Sunbeam Alpine Owners Club. The info is quite old - mostly looks like it was written in the 1980s - so availability / prices are well out.
One useful thing it does cover is swapping the oil pumps around between earlier and later models - this may have solved the problem Admin had with his practical classics motor?
The bit on cluches is also worth knowing.
There are 2 Litre Alpines out there but they are renown for having head gasket woes. Another mod i've see on race cars is to offset the head by 10mm so that the valves better align with the cylinder.
Perhaps a little extreme for a PB...
