13 grand van in Japan?

Quite a rhyme that, if I'm to say so myself :D

Someone is selling (or trying to sell is probably a more correct term) a blue '72 panel van in Japan, for the reasonable asking price of 13 grand !! [:0][:0] (at least at the exchange rate I found for 2.080.000 yen..)

I know they are rare, but 13 grand ??

But for that price I could buy myself a gorgeous mint Lynx Eventer (Jaguar XJS estate conversion..) and still have money to spare for another Commer [^]

now that does look nice, i would loose a toe for that van. i am a bit confused though, because if its in japan why does it have british number plates on it[?]:p;)

Very nice. Maybe the plates are to give it the the authentic 'Brit' look. Always be suspicious of a picture when a vehicle has just been washed [}:)]

got a bit of a soft spot for the XJS despite the build quality - hadn't seen the estate version before - should be good for collecting jukeboxes[8D]

am loving the design work on the home page of the site with commer for sale.....http://www.oldcars.co.jp/index.html

on the home page it had ballon shapes at the top and inside one it says they have obsolite parts, but i couldnt see any access to see what they have[?] you never know they might have thousands of commer parts in that big tin shed behind the vans.:p;)[:0]

And they've got these huge VW minibuses, look !

Just check out how big that red samba-bus is the centre is, and how small the people are. I'm sure you could fit the whole conservative party in it :D

Interestingly it has the earlier rear lights and later dash. Was there a crossover period between the two?

The number plates certainly belong to a blue Commer first registered on 20-10-1972 and it was taxed until March 2005.

do you know something, thinking back im sure that this van was for sale over here in england a couple of years ago on ebay. as soon as i saw it i thought it rang a bell. i remember seeing one exactly the same as this in colour and every detail, it was when i first started looking for a commer van but wasnt sure wether to by one or not. the sad thing is, if this is the same van as i think it is it sols for about the £1400.00 mark about two or three years ago. i couldnt afford it then.[V][xx(][:0]:p;)

The 'Project' has later dash and earlier lights :p Must be a crossover period.

Don't think this lot are headed for conservative party conference....

thinks.. is the van still in this country and the £13,000 asking price is to include price of shipping it to Japan? nice to know there is engineering Made In Britain in demand, perhaps Japanese are bored with high build quality stuff that never breaks down:D

No, this lot is voting Labour ! Or did vote Labour.. Now they can't be bothered. They vote OAP's party instead ;) - as the photo must be well over 30 years old - and the guys subsequently a generation older by now. At least they had the experience of seeing brand new Commers in the showrooms, which must count for something. Something I never did, that's for sure.
