thanks gents but it's the petrol tank sender , I presume it's the original tank and sender unit . not taken it out but friend 'in the know' checked the unit an said it's not working properly . Actually shows full most of the time then drops to half way and then it's empty !

My Commer is in need of a sender unit , is there a specific one or would any off ebay do ? (from 16 pounds to 80 odd) . Thanks , Ken

Latest , Gertrude needs all the oil changed and few other little thing looked at so have taken it to a mechanic I know who has a lift and service garage , I am getting an electric petrol pump fitted and the brakes serviced as when I had a puncture and changed wheel for spare a couple of weeks...

Hello , at last got the manifolds back and all old holes sealed , carb on and after charging the battery it started and ran gorgeously , even the choke going off almost immediately but will have to sort the carb adjustment and go over the nuts and bolts to make sure all tight and leak proof...

Thanks , I'll think about that but I think the studs are well stuck as I had to use a lot of force before they snapped ! and if anything are a few thou below the manifold face . Also will have to make or find an exhaust seal ring as that broke too , or was already in peices before everything let...

Thanks for replies , Yes that's what I thought ! brass strips easier than steel and yes copper grease a good idea too !! Commer on hold for little while as have bike stuff to do . I have to drill out the exhaust studs as they broke flush with the manifold ! Aint life grand ! Never a dull moment...

I have the 'spare manifold' apart and has good deflector plate if anyone needs it ? I may see how well the inlet manifold fits my exhaust and use it , if OK , as it only has the small flange hole which I can block .
