    ....it never sleeps

Hi all! So what's peoples thoughts on this, am I being lazy or does this look like it will allow me to sleep at night... http://www.rust.co.uk/we-rust-proof-your-car-from-250/c32734/ Tom

Possible you say - that's enough of a green light for me... been looking for an excuse to get a silly hair dresser car :)

    what servo?

Well having gone away and read and thought a bit I'm not so keen on the disc option after all. Although Martin did experience brake loss this was with the earlier smaller drums I think I read. Be good to know how much smaller these are. As mentioned earlier in another thread perhaps, drums are...

    what servo?

I admire your drive for the greater good Stephen. A simple conversion with off the shelf parts should be doable with time I think. I can't commit right now but as I'm in a very hilly part of the country it is definitely something I will look at as I get the other 2 vans together. I can get...

    what servo?

I am suffering from lizard brain after trying to do my accounts. But got this disc conundrum spinning round in my head. So sorry if I ramble. Assuming I used the humber/merc caliper/disc combo which I,ve seen on here with the humber stub axle, does this run ok using the standard drum setup on...

    what servo?

Think I spotted the Australian chaps... Rav 4 discs I think seemed the way forward... Hmm all food for thought. Tom

    what servo?

I have a healthy respect for my braking system and the limitations on older vehicles having a few quite literal near misses when loosing all brake twice in my life :( Plus I do live in mid Wales - even using the engine to help i'm pumping like mad to try and reduce heat. As yet had not probs...

    what servo?

Does anyone have concerns over brake fade? A lot of hills here in Wales and I often pump going down hills always worrying there gonna overheat. They never have but used to get it a lot in my little 1L mk1 polo with non servo discs. Would adding the servo only encourage the driver to rely on...

    Engine with ali head

I'd be interested if there is a O/D and box coming up. My box is a bit noisy on Charlie and needs the clutch sorting anyway. Give me a shout if you need to part with it. Tom

    Project No.2 - Highwayman

I did an oil change just the other day. In-fact this is what made me think as it seems lower since the oil change but this might be me over thinking things. What with the whole dipstick fiasco it turned out he was very low on oil after all! But i'm a way off 15psi anyhow! Tom

    Project No.2 - Highwayman

While on the subject (of engine woes) what would you regard as poor oil pressure? Charlie when up to temp and ticking along will sit right down at 30psi rising when 'accelerating' or pushing up a hill. Tom

    Charlie's new home

arh that makes sense. Looking more closely the stub had been removed and blanked with a domed nut - I was looking at the over flow! It appears he was running very weak. A tweak on the mixture and fiddle with the timing and he seems sooo much happier. Seems obvious now.... popping on over run...

    Charlie's new home

Just been playing around with timing to try and get a happier running van. I'm finding idle lumpy, lumpier still when hot. Was getting bad pinking too. I retarded the timing which helped in both respects - seemed to improve top end but knock back low pick up. So brought it forward a touch. But...
