    Changing King Pins

Tap with a plastic screw driver [}:)] I would have had mine done in 2 hours if the cotter pin just popped out:( (and the king pin). there again if I didn't have my good friend the friendly mechanic helping me I would never have managed it myself at all. Undersealing over the grease nipples...

    Changing King Pins

It is a saturday job unless you have better luck getting the cotter pin and king pin out[}:)] Took about 5 1/2 hours. I quote ' drive the cotter pin out with as brass drift taking care not to damage the thread' (or something like that). Has anyone ever actually managed this?????:p Ok so gave...

If I am overdriving 3rd what do I do when going into 4th, will it automatically 'click out' when I change up or will I need to disengage it first?

    Overdrive

When I bought our van the bloke said not to engage overdrive below 40mph and only in 4th. Is there any reason I can't overdrive 3rd at say 35ish on those gentle uphill and twisty 40mph bits where it can't quite mange 4th (due to my lack of guts on the corneres etc)but 3rd is a bit noisy? I...

    Pop-top-tastic Commer @ £3,500

Nope:I Haven't had the chance. Contact the bloke and ask for some more pics maybe? I am still a rank ametuer at these vans anyway so a viewing would probably not help anyone;)

    removal of relay lever bushes

The MOT man said it would fail next year if I didn't do it[B)] If the van is jacked up just grab the lever and watch the pivot to see if there is any movement. Because of the way the spring loads the top I presume (particualrly given how tight the pin was at the bottom in the lever) you would...

    removal of relay lever bushes

Ok, did this today. Tapers on ball joints came out of relay easy with the extraction tool (big mallet, I am reliably informed this prevents damage that can be caused by the extraction tools;) It worked well). Four bolts holding the internediate relay on came off easy (I had scrubbed the thread...

    PEGGY

76mph, maybe we should organise a drag race at Commerfest a la top gear:p:p Still trying to work out what is thirsty by Commer standards:I I have established that once the fuel gauge is just under 1/4 it is empty;) (well under 1L it appears. I am investing in a bigish petrol can for those...

    Commerfest 2010-50th Aniversary

We are going up from SE. Little Stan doesn't do hours stuck in a van in hot weather so we are going up over two days we reckon, staying near Rutalnd Water on thursday night just down from the Ram Jam Inn where I think Scot/comm-dom/comm-pete has organised a meet up point for the A1 Commervoy on...

    removal of relay lever bushes

Enigma I have the workshop manual that talks through the pin and bush replacement so maybe I can scan it and get it put on if you want. Cheers for the advice, looks like I might have to plumb for the repair option then[B)]

    removal of relay lever bushes

Is the repair pin from speedys right for this and if so which of the bushes do I need (or do they come with the pin) does anyone know:I based on the diagram here it is the steering idler bush which sounds right too (part numbers tie up with speedys). (I know I can call them but thought I would...
