    Andy Thowman ??? wiring loom

If people are interested, I received via Facebook this very promising reply yesterday from Andy Bud ; "Hello. I now live in Hungary. I still make the odd loom, and I have all of my resources here. They’re not too difficult to put together, but I only have templates for earlier vans (I haven’t...

    Andy Thowman ??? wiring loom

I've tried Andy both here and on Facebook but after several weeks now he does appear AWOL from Commer world. Does anybody know who can make a new Commer loom or has the schematic to layout a board for a DIY job ? (I've tried Martin and he suggested Andy was his known source) Cheers

    Lucas 119SA multi-function stalk

Courtesy of the ever reliable Martin Maltas, here's the part no. if anybody else wants to go 'posh' on their PB  The only Spacevan feature that won't work as standard is the self-cancelling indicators, as the Spacevan has a slightly different steering column.

    Lucas 119SA multi-function stalk

To complement my extensive collection of worry dials, I'm re-purposing the now obsolete dash switches for wash-wipe control (hoping to replace the original with a Triumph pull hazard light switch) and the redundant foot switch will probably control my front spotlights.

    Insulation advice

Cheers, I'm not thinking of the Celotex or Kingspan types, more of the rolls of thinner stick on sheeting. I'm planning a vinyl floor which will help a bit, granted not as much a carpet. Also looking at 4 way stretch to cover the internal panels too.

    Insulation advice

I'll soon be boarding out the rear of my Commer and very interested in what others have done here. Firstly, I'm intending to apply cavity wax in all the nooks, crannies and seams etc. and then use marine ply (sealed with a waterproof coating) to cover the rear floor and sides. Some insulation...

    Overdrive gearbox for Pootle?

If you're engine refurbishing and want to stop the oil leaks then Trevor @ New Forest Gaskets does a full set of silicone gasket for the sump and rocker cover etc. I'm about to fit a set but they come highly recommended to me. Trevor also makes silicone gaskets for the thermostat housing and...

    The Snail

I'm going for that Ratsport starter, I spoke with Jules a while back and just need to confirm my starter ring teeth. Good reminder for me to now resume on that.

Thanks Sam, really helpful info and great tip about not cooking the starter motor ! It sounds like my Alpine manifold is the same as your but somewhere I've also got the original Hunter manifold too, so can play with what works best. Will look up those tubular manifolds too.

We've come a long, long way together

Foul weather halted my planned work today on the Commer. Instead, I've had a proper ferret in the loft and finally found my 'lost' box of NOS goodies, more gems await

Armstrong lever shockers. New oil seals

Whilst were on the subject of handing, I have pair of NOS for the PB and was planning to drain and refill them before swapping them over. Physically they look the same and whilst the NOS have numbers on their arms, my existing ones don't so I'm not clear which units fit which side and neither...

Thanks Panky but that was intended for for SunbeamSam re. their Alpine exhaust manifold - if I recall you're running the original Hunter type exhaust manifold ?
