Metro KIF44 Carb on BL Sherpa Heated Manifold

The Dyno operator told me that he got valve bounce at around 5500rpm so I may change the cam and springs for a few more revs. I'm thinking of using the cam from a standard Hunter (Iron head) as it has a bit more overlap and lift than a Commer. I reckon I can change the cam in situ by radiator...

Metro KIF44 Carb on BL Sherpa Heated Manifold

On the standard setup the carb gets a bit too hot from directly connected exhaust heat - so keeping it at a steady 100 ish degrees by water heating allows the setting up to be simpler, as it does not have to cope with varying temps :-)

Metro KIF44 Carb on BL Sherpa Heated Manifold

I wanted to fit a SU HIF Carb and different exhaust to replace the standard Zenith, and was looking around a few scrappies to see what I could find when I came across a Leyland Sherpa of around 1990 vintage. Being that petrol models were fitted with HIF's I lifted the bonnet expectantly only...

    ACF 50 protective spray

We use it at work on fork lift trucks in arduous conditions, freezer stores and brine (salty) environments and find it to be very good indeed, its a super fluid, stays at a light viscosity and 'heals' should it get wiped off a small area. In short WONDER STUFF !

Head Skimming / Unleaded valve seat conversion

Hi all, What is considered as a normal amount to skim from a Commer head to improve torque and drivability? And who has had Unleaded valve seats fitted? Do you think it was worth the expense over lead replacement 'jungle juice' ? Lastly can anyone recommend any particular firm to do this...

    Silver Screens

All, I spoke to Silver Screens yesterday and they can make new for approx £110-120 in modern thermal material guaranteed to prevent condensation on inside of windscreen. The only snag is they have thrown away the patterns so they need an old screen to copy (would be good to get a van there...
